GameSpy difficult to start games..

I tried starting a game in gamespy via a basic dial up connection. It tried to get my nat authenticated. And said it couldn't connect it needed the port or something forwarded to me. I did not know how to do this but asked the other guy with me online and didn't reply. Can I even play this game on dial up? Or will it be like lag central park?
I really do like this game, but some parts of it suck. I have interface problems all the time. Anybody use the mouse on this game. Man!

Anyone who knows the jargon a bit could help me out here. I just cant seem to get a game on. I want to at least try it.

i can't image trying to play this over dialup. even over a T1, the lag is unplayable. i believe the gamespy feature is almost completely broken, twice out of a dozen tries has it functioned well enough to play.
