It has been talked about a bunch here in the Independant RPG's (http://dreamcatcherinteractive.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22961) thread and in various other threads. I liked it quite a bit, and posted a link to my review here here (http://dreamcatcherinteractive.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23428) at some point.
Fun game, great for the whole family.

Thanks for the links Mike...
I have no problem with the "spyware" Fate installs... and I am one of those ex-programmers from the 90's that Must know everything on my PC and what it does. Since I have nothing to hide or be concerned about on my PC, don't care if they know how long I play it or what hardware I own.
I am enjoying the game Fate... always wanted a little more Diablo, and HATED Diablo II (I nick-named it "Slaughter the Hoard - AGAIN!".
You know a game is good when you boot it to play a few minutes to get the feel, then 3 hours have gone by and you have to tear yourself away from it!

Just a question. Why does it say that "No copies of Fate were found to upgrade"? I used the link...

Nevermind I happen to downloaded a sort of add-on which was quiter bigger than the demo itself and it contains more monsters etc., it was only 130 Mb  , and the game 30 Mb lol. I liked it though, 10x anyway.

Hmm-the Fate GAME I D/L'd was a 127MB File. Are you saying this is NOT the Real Game Fate but some add-on? And that the Real Fate Game is only 30MB?
From their Website:
Download for dial-up connection users (27.5MB)
Get into the game FAST!
Download for broadband connection users (128MB)
Experience fully enhanced textures and sounds
Download the Enhanced Media Upgrade (117MB)
Free upgrade for dial-up connection downloads – Go from GREAT to
INCREDIBLE Graphics and Sounds.

The FULL Game for Dial-up connections is Only 28MB? And for Broadband its 128MB?
Confused.

They broke it up into 2 downloadable versions: one for dialup internet users and one for broadband users.
The file for broadband users has all the bells and whistles. The dial up version is scaled down so it doesn't take forever to download.

That was a very well written review,Mike. I think that it may just be something I would be interested in right now. I Kinda want to just take it easy , do a bit of fishing and get away from the Helter-Skelter of Games Like DL for awhile. BTW,when you feed your Pet what do they change into? Do they keep changing everytime You feed them? And is there an advantage of Dog over Cat or the other way around?
You feed the pet fish... each fish will morph the pet into something more powerful, most are temporary, some rarer ones keep the pet in the new form until you feed them another fish.. dogfish will always revert back to cat/dog. Fish can be caught via a mini-game in the dungeon or outside.
I was told to choose the dog as a pet because the cat tended to meow a lot and became annoying.

Thanks. I Think I would have chosen the Dog anyway, you know...Man's Best Friend. Cats, well ,they are their own Friend--Hehe!

The other cool thing about the small download is that it works great on 'low-end' machines ... if you just meet the minimum, you get a nice compact install that will work and play great with your hardware.

I almost went ahead and got the Game Yesterday but I happened to read a Review on RPG.dot ( or maybe it was some other Site) that basically said:
" If you dawdle,Piddle and generally take you dear ole Sweet Time roving around, you may get 20-25 Hrs of Gameplay. Otherwise, if you play the Game Normally its about 10 Hrs".
Well, that seems pretty short to me but since I don't Always believe any single Review ==what about that? You Guys here that have played the Game how long did it take you to finish ( Retire your Char)? TIA

Y'know, I have a harder time estimating the hours on that game than most, mainly because of the 'casual' play style. I suppose it is in the 20 - 30 hour range, but I also had a couple of characters going, and was playing along with my kids, and things like that, so it ends up lasting many more hours than a traditional action-RPG.
Mike
The game offers a quest that ends around the 50th level of the dungeon where you can then "retire" as the town hero... but, you can continue in the dungeon to level 999.
Also, since this game is like Diablo, starting a new game creates a new dungeon and a new quest, so replay value is high.

I downloaded and installed the demo last night and played it for a couple of hours.I found it quite enjoyable. The music and the sound the char makes when it walks was a little tiresome but it was not too bad.....I think I will play the demo a little longer before I make up my mind about buying though.
Oh yeah ...does anyone know if my demo char will be transferred to the retail game if I buyt it?

Yep, you just buy an unlock code and keep going - this is the full game.

I just purchased this months PCGamer and on it was the full demo (128mg) of Fate. I installed it, played it a while, and I purchased it. I am really enjoying this game. Diablo was/is one of my all-time favorites so I instantly liked fate, and will be playing for some time, unlike Dung lords...
