I thought I would make a thread to track the customer reactions from the German release of "Dungeon Lords" with the 1.3 patch. If you run across any reviews of this release, please post them here (translated, of course).

To start off, here is the official German website and a translation of how the game is described:

http://www.dtp-ag.com/

Dungeon Lord

It is the history of the Dungeon lords and the broken kingdom. It tells the betrayal under friends, the cold-blooded revenge and the honour of the true love of two humans. Everything began with the death of the large Zauberers Galdryn. His friend lord Davenmor fell thereby into an unequal fight for his kingdom. It had itself equally the dark forces of the conspiracy and the attack of the army lord Barrowgrim's. The teuflische bad, thousands of years the sleep of forgetting in the depths of the earth slept awaked to new life and made themselves on the kingdoms into a forecourt of **** to transform. Time for true heroes, dwarves and Elfen and the large war! The most diverse kinds of monster and races populate the world of Dungeon lord. D.W. Bradley spent over 1 ― year with the Design of the individual inhabitants and the organization of its Fantasti world. For the 3D conversion it engaged prominent Animateure, level, Model and texture designer, most of them was responsible with for the work on unreal 2

I think this part of the translation explains a lot.

I just have to wonder WHERE they got that tidbit of Information from? it certainly does not appear in any of the interviews Bradley has given over the past 3+ Years. Of course, its all irrelevant now anyway.

Well, most of his early interviews is talking about the game he wants to make and not what had been completed. It's easy to get the people excited when you tell them what elements you are planning to put in a game and so forth, but how much of it has actually been programmed at that point? It's all talk and no do.

Hi, my name is Chris and I'm the PR Manager of German publisher dtp., the company who published DL in Germany, I stumbled over this and thought I had to reply.
I don't know on which website you found that ancient text about DL, surely not on our current website. Maybe in the "Shop"? Well, then there must be a quite ancient text. Of course it's outdated.
By the way, what's so interesting in this?
People over here are glad to have the Automap now and we are happy to give it to them.

And we still miss working customization, working heraldry, working repair, working identify, working options for view distance, shadow and details.
As well we want all plotstoppers fixed for single- and multiplayer.
And the "40 hours for the main, 120 hours total if you do anything" your company announced february this year of course. Or does 4 months ago mean ancient?
There's much more but with this snailing speed I don't expect a finished game until christmas.

It is under Shop, Action games, Dungeon Lords

Is the Shop part of your site? It's connected to your homepage. If it is, then that "ancient text" was found on your site last night (6/28/2005). Are you saying that you don't even know what is on your site?

All we're wondering is how everyone likes the game in Germany based on the condition it was released in? It's very simple. There are still a lot of broken elements and missing content...like in Arindale.

Welcome to the forums.

well as far as i can see most of the people in germany are as disappointed as the american costumers and the reviews are as bad as yours too.just the fanboys in the dtp dl forum seem to like it.the moderators there ban people that criticize the game and they delete critical posts or displace them in some big thread at the end of the page and they have a sticky thread where they show of the names of banned people, i never saw something like that in any board.well they seem do do everythig too keep criticism away from their board.

You know...if they hadn't screwed up the product and the release to begin with then they wouldn't even have to be dealing with all of that. Whoever made the decision to release the product in the partially finished condition it was in should be dogpiled and sent back to Business Management 101 class.

Let him talk. They only banned two trolls who violated the board-rules, insulting people and so on. There 's a lot of criticism in our forum and we definitely don't try to stop it.
In the first few days people were disappointed as well, although the German version was 1.2 at release and has now the 1.3 patch with the automap. People are now starting to realize that after some playing the game is fun - with some flaws.
As the expectations in the press have been very high, the first ratings are between 55% and 70%.

regarding the "shop": Well, I see. The shop is not my business, folks. And to recommend changing the text would open a construction yard I better keep closed ;-) It's no catastrophe.

Well we don't really care about the press now do we ? After all they are the ones who actually said the game was decent and failed to mention that over half the features advertised were non existent. So I guess that makes them a bunch of bold faced liars too? Yea it does..

Yes the game does have great potential.. but that isn't important right now... As my grandmother always said ........

Our first goal is to moderate a growing, interesting Fan-Site, and no one was banned for nothing. But rude and "uncharming" people, who donīt accept our board-rules and flame other users are warned and finally banned - very simple, isnīt it ?

I obviously have more knowledge about your job than you do. You are in charge of promoting the sale of your product and you don't even know what is listed about a game in the Store section of your website and you're full of excuses why you can't check it out and handle it.
