For the female gamers there are three options: to play a human that looks like a russian prostitute, an elf that looks like a christian housewife, or to play a male, which is aestethically speaking the only viable option. Those furballs are kind of cute after all.
Based on what that one developer (that used to hang around) said, I am under the impression that the art has been made, and that they just have been just too lazy to add it into the game.
I fail to understand why they release useless bug fixes and automap, but not this feature, which shouldn't take too much time to add, unless the mentioned developer lied about the art being made.
Where did they find their programmers? Did they hire two homeless guys and give them "C++ for dummies", and keep them in a shoe box and feed with sallad and carrots if they manage to write 50 lines of valid code per day?
Sigh.

It was 60 lines of code, and it was only carrotts, salad is too expensive, did you want us to run under budget faster? Geez, give us a break!

Please! Can we have character customization?

As I posted elsewhere ... "Character Custimization" is listed on the box... if the Developer doesn't add it and someone could easily make a quick dollar with a class action lawsuit against them for false advertisement. You simply can't advertise to the public one thing then after they buy your product refuse to give the merchandise.
Real simple.

They did mention that it was supposed to be in 1.2, I'm guessing that they focused on mapping first. Which is more important for most people - if you have current games it starts working right away.
Unless you plan to start again, the customization won't be of much use anyway. Although it would be nice if we could customize existing characters.

Yes, WHERE are the multiple character appearance options???
I bought this game right when it came out and STILL have NOT EVEN PLAYED IT cause I don't want to look like a generic guy with brown hair, let alone looking like my other friends that are playing, if we all decided we liked the human race the best.
THIS IS INSANE! I'm so damned sick of waiting for character appearance. There should be at MINIMUM 6 faces per gender and race selection - AT THE BEGINNING of the release. The only way I'd start playing now is if we can change the faces later, which I doubt will happen. So, I just wait and wait?
This is Unsatisfactory.
Mapping first? Why? WHY do mapping first when some people aren't even playing due to the look of their character, WHICH adds a good amount of immersion into any RPG? I could start playing with some good face options, then pick up the mapping when its patched. But I WONT be able to change my character face once I've already started playing - I've never seen that option ever available in a simple multi-player RPG. So really...why mapping before character customization?
This is so absurd. What really would inspire to ever buy another Dreamcatcher game again, excepting masochism?

Just play you character and put some armour on him/her and you will look different. Not playing the game because you can't change the face is rediculous. You barely even see their face unless they look back at you from time to time when you're standing still. Put on a helmet or something to cover it up and increase your amour in the process. We need important things like bug fixes first, then customization.

I agree... to not play a game because your character can't look different is rediculous IMHO. True, it was suppose to have it... but that's FAR from the game breaker for me. Like others have said, you don't even see your guy anyway once you get armor and a helmet. Id rather have the bugs squashed and more content added than wrryng about how my character looks. Its not an MMORPG. Youre not going to be running around in the game world with 10,000 other peeps.
Sheesh.

Whats wrong with the first two options? :-)

No. I will not play a game looking like the current Human male. I have an idea in mind of a character I want to use, and it's not viable with that. Whether it's a big deal to you or not is irrelevent. There are those of us that demand this be in the game as said, Or I can very well see a class action suit being filed by someone or other.
Well that irrelevant right now because customization is not an option.

I was quite surprised when I was unable to Customize my Character to the way I wished Him to look..... the game does state that you can
That was a major sell point not just game play
I can't believe they would release the game without rectifying this problem
beforehand ... it's like one of the biggest things NOT to be overlooked
Look at all the other RPG's out there (KOTOR)
I don't agree with the people here who say "just play the game"
I think they are missing the point and are settling for a lesser game
Map's are great and should be inputted somehow but ....I think this issue
undermines the entire concept of what this game is actually about
Like to know how and when Dreamcatcher is planning to or when they will
be responding to their customer's complaint's

Just having them finish the game in general would be nice. Do not get me wrong... the gameplay is fun; however, it is extremly annoying to walk into buildings where people are suppose to live/work and there is nothing in them... not a stitch of furniture, just absolutely nothing.
And what a joke when the mage in Arindale and Lord Devenmor in Fargrove tell you to take any treasures/spells/etc you need from their homes... to bad there isn't a **** thing in either of their homes to take.
Like I said, this game is fun to play... but it would be more fun if they had finished the blasted thing.

Im not saying settle for a lesser game. Im saying, not playing a game just because you cant customize the character is not right. I've fussed about this plenty and do want them to fix it. in the mean time you can just use armour to change your appearance and maybe they'll get to fixing it.

no class action lawsuit will ever get off the ground. you cant sue for false advertizing, I allready checked with a friend of mine who is working on a law degree and interning with a practicing lawyer.
the exact quotes on the box are:
"Customize your characters with Powerful Weapons and Magic. - Arm yourself with hundreds of powerful weapons and armor and cast spells from neumerous schools of magic" (from the inside cover flap, top left)
and
"Create your own character hero, choosing from a variety of races and multiple class specializations"
Nowhere on the BOX does it state that you can alter the appearance of your character beyond the equipment he/she is wearing.
If you can find sunch a quote on the box, or a promotional poster or display that specifically states that the character appearance itself, (not the equipment he/she wears) is changable, please post it, along with an unaltered photograph.
While character customization is mentioned in the manual, the maual does not constitute false advertizing because it is not visible when you purchase the game.
At best you could make a stink about poor documentation, but that isnt a class action lawsuit.
Face it, we all got taken to the cleaners, and all we can do is smile about it, and pray to whatever dieties we believe in that someone takes enough time to patch the game to the point where it deliveres on its potential.

Your right. "We all got taken to the cleaners". Jermey knows this but refuses to say it. Just say it Jermey - SAY IT.
We all have the right to be upset.

I would presume that part of Jeremy's responsibilities is to put as positive a spin as possible on DL...(damage control).
It's not his fault that DL turned out the way it did.

Your Friend and his Lawyer are Quite wrong. You can absolutely file a law Suit based on "False Advertising". Its is Done everyday. Any Publicized Statements Made about the Product, whether they be on Radio,Newsprint,Magazines, TV or on the Internet can be used to Substantiate a "False Advertising" Suit as well as all Documents and printed Material that accompanies the Product-this Includes the Manual. I've practiced law for 16 years and have handled a dozen or more such Law Suits.
They gave you erroneous advice and really should go back to law School and FINISH!

Ofcourse he has to do that. It's clear and I'm sure everybody knows this. He is getting PAID to do that OFCOURSE. We consumers lose. This game wasn't free. We had to pay for it. And we also have the right to make statements about a "unfinished" product.

thats nice, would you file a class action suit based on the evedince you have availible to submit? Can you provide a document or recorded statement that specifically promises character appearance customization in an advertising medium? How much expense are you going to have researching the suit and organizing the evidence.
if so feel free to file the paperwork, i'm sure there are lots of people who would join.
My point was that the box itself does not constitute a flase advertizing lawsuit, and thats the response i recieved from my friend, which was the question i asked him, and he in turn relayed to his boss.

Why do you care whether he plays the game or not it's his prerogative, and it's not effecting you any. And you call him dumb, quite ironic.
Anyway, FYI, I have read multiple pre release interviews with DW where he states that you will be able to customize your characters appearance. An interview concerning a product is to plug/advertise said product.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in the demo, if you tried to use the appearance controls, you got an 'only in full version' message ... if having misleading info in a demo (on which I based my decision to buy the game) isn't false advertising, what is?
