View Full Version : Demo was Crap but the Retail Game is Awesome

Folks, I just bought a game that had a very crappy looking Demo and I almost did not purchase it because of the Demo/Retail release of DL and I would have missed out on a real gem of a game IMO. The name of that game is "The Bards Tale". It was only 29.95 and it looks great it, runs great, I love
the combat, and is so witty and funny it is almost unbelievable. If you get this game you will enjoy it with out a doubt!

You've made terrible mistake posting this. I prefer to keep my pleasure of the game to myself rather than post it cause there are many ppl here very dissapoited.

He's talking about The Bards Tale, not DL. Yes, the humor in it makes it fun to play even though the remake design is nothing near the original.

I think I enjoyed the demo more, since I could use all the skills directly whatever class I had and that was simply cool :D

Ahh..to which Bard's Tale are you referring:the 1st, 2nd or 3rd game? BTW all three of the original games can be installed from the new Bard's Tale game disk. LoL.. I tried playen a little of the first one but could not catch on to the interface of the game very well ....have not tried the other two. Oh BTW did you buy new BT game ? :) :)

Yes, for Xbox. I played the original games years ago when they were as hot as World of Warcraft is now.
Wasteland was another good game at the time and that is what spawned the Fallout series.

I remember being so upset when i heard it was going to be a console game ...but thank goodness that they came to there sences and made the game for the PC!!! When the PC demo came out I started playen it right away but the whole thing bumed me out so bad I uninstalled it after about an hour of gameplay.Needless to say i was very disappointed ....so on a whim I decided to take chance and purchase the new rease of Bard's Tale for the PC and am so happy with the conversion of the console game onto a PC game which as many know much of the time does not work well for the PC game. IMO sooo far for me the Bards Tale should make RPG of the year for the PC.....if only for the comedy of the game much less all the other enjoyable things about it!!

I still have tons of graph paper maps somewhere that I had made during Bards Tale 1 and 2 on the C-64.
Those were some great games.

I like how you can spin your corpse around on the ground when you die. I said to myself, "I hope they transition that feature from the demo to the actual release because it's really cool." Sure enough, they did.

I thought that was a completely lame left over as well.... after being in QA for four plus years, I just cannot imagine HOW that could be left in and not fixed.

Welp one major improvement that I saw was that they got rid of strange line that made it look like yer mouse was attached to the character.That was the major thing for me I did not like about the demo that is not like the retail. As for the top down cam position it would have looked a little better with an angled view....I didn't like it at all in the demo and I am not sure if they had any zoom capability in the demo, but there is a slight zoom ability in the retail version.....and now I have quickly gotten used to it and is not a detractor IMHO to the game at all. :) :) If you have a good sence of humor and are not too serious you should enjoy this game very much! :) :)
