I bought the game when it came out (had it pre-ordered and went 2wice to find out it had been pushed back). I finally brought it home and found customization missing and went promptly to these forums. I've read it all. I just downloaded the 1.3 patch but still haven't even played it. I don't want to. Yeah, I'm a whiner about the character customization - Yeah, I'm a whiner about the spell problems - Yeah, screw this game.

Thank god for PC San Andreas - There is a game with some serious funding behind it and look what you get - perfection

My favorite games however, are RPGs (single player ofcourse) and if this pile of steaming feces was anywhere near as cool/complete as even the first Wizardry game I'd be playing it now instead of venting this.

Maybe it was the forums themselves? I spent 40 bucks and have no interest whatsoever in playing this. Maybe someday - Bradley will redeem his once idolized status of an RPG genius (this tarnish will not wash away easily)

And I haven't played Fargo's new Bard's Tale for the PC but i understand it is suffering from similiar problems (release date has been changed how many times now?) JESUS - won't someone update the graphics/sound of the first 3? release 'em and charge me 30 bucks and I'd be in line for that!

No point to this post, other than to vent and reflect on past games (developed in basements, mind you) with little funding and they still kicked *** - now days it's all about making a buck, screw the consumer.

thanks!

If you don't even want to play the game anymore, why bother to come here to ***** about it?

As for myself, I have found City of Heroes and have been obsessed with that (having purchased it after 14 day free trial). I downloaded the 1.3 patch for DL and will probably get back to it..... sometime. ;)

Hey dude, i hear ya. I too was disappointed after getting as excited as a little girl getting a new barbie to find out that it was nothing like it was "Hyped" to be. They said developement will continue so maybe it'll one day be what it was supposed to be. I've gone back to never winter nights for now to help me feel better.

YES- YES !!! Jermy and his team say screw the consumers. After all they are getting PAID !!!! We are in-turn losing money.

Will they provide refunds Jermy? I think everybody knows the answer to that question.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

The interesting thing is that Dungeon lords is STILL IN DEVELOPMENT, according to Jeremy.

If that is so, my question is why was Dungeon Lords released for sale as a finished game?

What an incredible admission...

Like an old saying, "If you let a dog lick you in the face, it will do it every time."

I think a lot of people bought the game just so they could ***** about it!

What? I'm No Masochist man... If I wanted to spend money only to complain about the product I would have bought "Little Johnny Bag of Broken Glass"

I bought DL because it was SUPPOSED to kick ***. If it had all the included (or evn 80%) of the advertised features and the game just happened to suck, I'd be indifferent. This, however, was not the case! I got burned, in my opinion, real bad.

I will never buy another product with ANY ties to ANYONE involved in this game ('cept the sound guy, the music was AWESOME - teehee) until professional reviews have been done. I never used to do this - I'd buy based on my gut and knowledge of the history of gaming. This time I was dead wrong.

"Pray we don't get fooled again!"

I've never seen so much negative ranting from a person who HAS NOT EVEN PLAYED THE GAME!

You might be more convincing if you had actually played it.

99% of all the negative, repeat complainers have not been past Arindale, let alone any of the advanced dungeons... yet they post message after message in an attempt to discourage others from having some fun.

No one is saying the game doesn't have problems, nor will anyone say there are not features missing... I will freely admit both, but you will NOT see any of the attackers of this game admit there is fun to be found in large quantities.... why? Because they have not played far enough to know!

I've been playing it since the 1.3 patch and my first rant. I've got to be honest with you Gorn, I've made it through the early parts and I've got to say the game is ugly and awkward. Upon stumbling on some of the minor bugs and nuances I've been unshaken. But the game itself is mediocre at best, and very unpolished. I can barely read the **** font for one, The controls are herky-jerky, and forget about playing as a mage (learned that the hard way) - Plain and simple - it pales to Gothic 2 in all aspects (even graphics) and that game is what? 2 -3 yrs old?

Just very disapointed - I'm back to San Andreas

Yes... it pales in comparison to Gothic II... but what doesn't?

Let us know how you like it After the Naga Temple, or Shadow Ruins.... or Tomb of Souls.... not Arindale or Fargrove.

Oh... and GTA SA has the worst controls on the PC... the mouse has you looking at the ground or sky, very bad... I'll take the XBox version thank you.

Hehe-what you fail to understand here POQWAD, is that Jeremy did not outright Lie in that statement:"Dungeon lords is STILL IN DEVELOPMENT". Its what He Didn't say--That DL is still being Developed for the Foreign Countries! Thats the Only Markets they still have a HOPE of Making a little Money off of because the Game Sales are Dead in the USA.
As for WHY it was Released as a Finished Game--Simple! Both Bradley and DC KNEW that the Game Could never be Completed without a Lot more Funding and a Lot More Time Developing. Knowing that there is a Large Segment of Gamers who will be satisfied with WHATEVER State the Game is Released in,it became a purely Business Decision. Waste No more money on Developing,Release it and Hope that there is enough Sales to at least Break-Even and perhaps even make a Few Bucks. And So they Did just that!

If you mean Gothic II... it's a RPG with an wide open playing field and two large maps to explore. It's an adult title... some sex and lots of violence... a great story, tons of side quests. It has about 60-100 hours of game play and many career choices... in fact you'll have to choose good/bad, right/wrong, them/us many times, which forms your character and who are friends and enemies.
Graphics still hold up very well, sound is good too - nice part is that when the game was new your system had to be high-end to play in high-res... now just a decent PC will run it fast.
Uses a third person view, but can be played first person... not an easy game to get started, you are very weak to begin and will have to run many times to survive, but it's worth every minute of the challenge and soon you'll be chasing huge beasts... or not :)

Since it's a few years old it can be found for $10-15 at Amazon or other sites.

Alright, I'm not that far - I will let you know. As far as your controls Gamepad (preferabbly WITHOUT two analog sticks) AND a mouse with keyboard(on foot) and your set on GTA (plus all the cool mods not to mention custom tunes/higher res/further draw distance - I could go on)

But I will let you know when I get to where you describe, I haven't given up on it yet - just big time disapointed - you know?

And I haven't played Fargo's new Bard's Tale for the PC but i understand it is suffering from similiar problems (release date has been changed how many times now?) snip-snip
thanks!

I had nothing but trouble with DL encountered so many bugs...it is still fun but....very disappointed.

On the other hand I bought Bard's Tale, Only encountered one issue (not bug) and that being I need a better video card for certain talk sequences I have a 5700 right now, and certain(very rare) graphical lighting/rain will make the game slow to a crawl but easy to ignore since almost no area has rain (those that do are small enough to not bother me too much) and only the talking sequences with princess are a bit slow.

I found BT very very fun to play but your mileage may very, it more about humor than anything else. Though the storyline is better and more detailed than DL. Play the demo and when you get to the dead viking if you find that funny you'll LOVE the game :) The demo will also give you a general feel for how the gameplay is.

Like I said I have yet to encounter a bug with it on the same pc that I found 40+ bugs with DL.... Oh and they actually have an atmospher to game furniture NPCs and all...
