I decided to reinstall Ultima IX since it was about 2 to 3 years ahead of the hardware at the time it was released. It ran so slow on my system in 2000. The castle area in Brittania was the worst.

Today, it finally runs at a smooth clip with all the graphics turned up on my Athlon64. If anyone has access to this game, here are a few patches that will make the game better:

1.18f Patch: http://aiera.timeimmortal.net/downloads/u9patch118.exe
1.19f Patch: http://aiera.timeimmortal.net/downloads/u9ver119.zip (must install 1.18f patch first)

Monster & Economy Patch: http://aiera.timeimmortal.net/downloads/u9econmonster.zip

So far, I'm having a good time with it and it even supports up to 1280 X 1024 /32 graphics resolution.

(One thing to remember: set the graphics for 16bit, mip-mapping on, and the HIGH graphics level. It will say something like it doesn't recommend HIGH setting with 16 bit graphics...lol. Just ignore and do it anyway. Today's graphics cards kick butt compared to the ones in year 2000. Also, you will have to find the Journal in the game first before you can turn all the graphics options to max. That's just the way the intro goes.)

Thanks for the Patch Links. Time for Me to go to the Closet and Find My Copy of U9 and Fire it up again. Maybe I will make it farther than about 20% of the Game this Time.

I still have that game on my HD. Game plays great now on the new systems. Just wish it was better in gameplay and story. Oh well. Have fun replaying it.

Well, drug out my Copy of Ascension:9 couple weeks ago. Egads,it seems like an Entirely New Game. I certainly did not have these kind of problems when I first Played it. And,good grief, this is the Ugliest Avatar I have ever seen!
Couple things I can use some immediate Help on: 1. How do you BIND a Linear Spell into your spellbook? Totally confused on this one.
2. Money: I am using LazyGame Memory Editor and I can find and change the Money Value ( changed it from 79 to 5,000--could have gone as high as 65535) but it ALWAYS shows the Same 79 Gold on the Backpack.
I'm running all over Brittania and getting Nowhere Fast. Any Help will be most appreciated!

Appears they took all these various Patches and reconstructed an entirely New Game. It Certainly bears No resemblance to the Game I played when it was first released. Everything Worked then! Sure doesn't Now!
I Patched up to V1.18f. I do Not regain Health from sleeping in ANY Bed! And I am all outta Heal Pots, and with 6 Hit Points I am not likely to make it very far.
Maybe I should Uninstall V1.18f and reinstall V1.07f?? I would be happy ( at this moment) IF someone could tell Me How to get some Gold out of LazyWorks Memory Editor or Hex Edting. I can change the Gold Value in the Mem Editor but as soon as I return to the Game it still Says ( 79 ) Gold on the
Backpack. I am like a Blind Man looking for a tiny Golden Needle in a Haystack the Size of Mt.Everest!

Some games I've edited showed the same amount until it was added to or reduced. At that point the amount would show correctly according to what you set it to.

I read this on a Non-Related Board yesterday-
***Many people are experiencing problems running Ultima IX: Ascension. With so many and varied Patches the Game got screwed up somewhwere along the way. I Spent nearly 3 Months trying every conceivable combination of Patches-to no avail-so I finally just gave up,deleted Game from my HD and put the Game Back in the ole "Dust-Bin". Who needs his sort of Hassle???***

Well, I sure don't! So I am thinking of doing the Same thing.
