I remember someone posted a video of beating the Necrogiant in Trauma without any cards, just by staking from the distance. I downloaded the video back then but I can't find it anymore and I also can't find the post. Maybe someone (SYS? CHFlagg?) kept a backup or knows where we can find it.

Yes, i have seen all the vids there, that "golem" run with staking the giant in trauma was a fine one, also like the one in the snowy bridge - if you don't miss the ninjas and keep away from them, it is easy, though i am not a sharpshoter.

Well, what I mean by "Rambo" is I just basically grabbed some ammo and ran in there with out any thought or preperation to my attack. I ran to his feet, and just blasted him until he died. It just so happens that it appears to be a rather good offense by ignoring his macemen and to just keep moving and blasting him with the shotgun.

Well, the curious side got the best of me so I started a brand new game on the "Nightmare" setting and go to the Enclave with the Necrogiant.

I did the exact same thing and got the same result, I actually beat him 10 seconds faster. No cards, no cheats, just guns blazing, haha.

The screenshot proves it - 0:22 is the champion time, but i don't understand why have you chosen speed instead of something else? I've tried to beat Necro in speedy run without cards, but those macemen are always disturbing from behind, and those tornados really suck, i don't know, to me the Giant is a much harder foe than any other if playing without cards, cause of his macemen, tornados, his size.

If cards selected, i would choose confusion instead of speed, just to get rid of those macemen while i am near him.

Tripple haste (world moves 8x slower), dexterie (damage 4x) and forgiveness (so you can use the cards three times) are the key cards you have to use. I will try it again today and make a vid of it.

Just ignore the cards i mentioned above, i mixed them up.

I did three times that Enclave and all three times i had 19 sec.
The cards i used are Silver: Mercy and Replenish
Gold: Rage, Dextery and Triple Haste

So if you look for a better route towards to giant and picking up youre ammo on the way you mayby can get one or two sec faster.

I didn't cheat. Well... uhm... technically maybe I did. I used the bug that once equipped BooH cards don't wear off when you start a new pact in Painkiller :D. Thus the cards I used were...

Silver: Mercy, Blessing (not needed) and 666 Ammo
Gold: Rage, Dextery, Triple Haste, Weapon Modifier and Magic Gun (not needed with 666 Ammo)

So I guess Mr. Q's time still is the fastest without using any cheats OR bugs. ;)

Thats right, 666 ammo is fine by me, but weaponmod is not justified.
To bad i can not participate in this challenge cause of my 1.00 version, which does not allow dexterity with haste to make good effect, and that i can not use 666 ammo card from BOOH.
But i still can participate in Doomaxe's challenge without cards and cheats-)

Not exactly. Because this card runs off before the other golden cards, sometimes you can reach better results without using it (Shadowlands for example).

A yes, but you have "squished" more cards in those slots than are allowed to be, so than a question: what 2 silver cards and 3 golden ones would you choose to beat a record? And kalme, you know this is not a BooH level, adding guns and cards from BooH is not acceptible.

Actually any boss can be killed in less then 3 seconds. I don not use cheats just a little bug. This bug is when You use demon morph in BooH and then start original PK without getting of the cards from BooH. The result is playing original PK with cards from BooH + cards from original. Then You start the level activate the cards and from one shop in demon form boss just die :)
Very stupid bug, is not it.

And there are also bosses with special requirements (Swamp Thing, Alastor, Lucifer, Alastor II and the Giant Spider in Pentagon) where you won't be able to reach "less than 3 seconds" regardless of the cards you can use...

Wohoo, easy... :). Accusing others of cheating is heavy stuff that needs assured proof. My personal opinion is that it's rather impossible to reach these fast times using the stake gun (due to its slow reload). Shotgun is the way to go, definately. I just finished some runs. I never played Enclave for speed before (because I really don't like that level), but nevertheless... After five matches, I reached 1:37, after seven 1:35, and the tenth attempt finally gave me 1:31 - without any cheats and without any silver or golden cards. In Trauma. And for all you disbelievers (hehe) I not only present you the screenshot...

I have been playing first-person shooters since I can remember, and have always loved the fast action that they pertain.

It's how i developed my "In Your Face" approach to playing games, and have become quit good at it.

In order to beat the Necrogiant in a fast time, run to your right hand side and grab the three boxes of shotgun shells sitting next to the grave, then jump-run to Necrogiant, and litterally blow his nuts away. The shotgun gets the most damage closest to the target, obviously. His crotch is the biggest and closest target on Necro.

When his minions come, don't even bother. Keep hopping around Necro and under him and you'll kill him befor ehe even summons a tornado or anything.

The severe blatantness and speed or your attack is what will give you the fast time. You can't hit his feet, or get slapped at all, and a maceman can't hit you otherwise you won't make the time.

You'd think there would be a whole drawn out plan to this, and there really isn't. It's a load-up-and-go-and-whip-***.

I don't know a shread of programming, but I can make a **** of a Photoshop CS site, haha.

EDIT: And no problem about the accusatoin, man. It's not the first and certainly not the last. I'll help out any way I can to see that you get a good time. :)

@DoomAxe: what exactly do you mean with "video"? A demo (console command "demorecord")? Because demo recording is very buggy in Painkiller. You can play pack your demo with "demoplay <your demo's name>". Go and see for yourself what the result looks like. I used an application called Fraps to record the video above and converted it to WMV afterwards. It works nice, but it lowers framerate significantly, resulting in slower times and less jumping ability.

It's kind of basic, and can be done easily with just the shotgun. (Really, the shotgun is the only gun you should use fighting Guardian)

I did not thought to mess up with necrogiant again, besides my greatest time was 1:31, but i had a version 1.00.

Indeed something has changed from that time, i run 1.64 now and i thought i could improve my boss "time attack" runs.

I have made a video with GameCam in 400/300 format at 800/600 resolution, i could add the video that features:

1) necrogiant done in 1:04
2) trauma mode
3) never geting hurt
4) no cheats
5) no cards

All i want to know, do you guys interest yourself in watching this video?
It is about 25 MB in size...

I just spoiled something:
In the video where i achieved 1:04 i did got damage from Necro's spike!
The video where i did not got damage is 1:10, but i think it is more worth to show the video with greater time even if i got pwned a little bit:D

I also made videos how to defeat all other bosses in trauma mode without cards and cheats in the requested time.
But those i will show in my personal video thread, i only wonder how i will be able to show fight with Alastor, since it is about 100 MB, and other vids are below 30 MB, so first 3 bosses i can upload in the uploadtemple, but i won't be able to show Alastor, unless some dude in the forums would like to share 200 MB space in his HD for my vids:D
