Well, i would like to pay attention to EVERY member of this painkiller forum.
Let's have some fun in discussing!
There was a thraed about 5 favorite pk levels, now i am starting a new one about 5 hardest secrets. It is just that i would like to know, and i guess everyone would like to share, which secrets you (all of you) find the most hardly acceptible?
BooH not included!!!!!!
Since i've started, i will be he first to mention from "hard to low":
1)Docks single urn secret on crane by the sea.
2)Forest first.
3)Babel secret on elipse jar in first section.
4)Catacomb pillar.
5)City on water balcony.

Artas you crazy cracker, always thinking, good subject.
Anyways, I'd have to say, as you say, "Hard to Low" (lol)
1/ Docks (on the cranes)
2/ Catacombs (the one in the middle up above all the caskets)
3/ Prison (the first one in the vents)
4/ Abandoned Factory (the last 2 up top)
5/ Town (the third one in through the window)
So there you all have it, just like that dirty minded Artas wanted it,
Hard to Low. Now I know there are others more difficult, but I only
picked from the one's I found myself.

At first every secret i could'nt get, now there all acceptable to reach if you know the right way. The only jump i hav'nt made or see someone else do it is the tripple cone jump to reach the balcony in "City on Water".
The secrets that i had trouble reaching where in "Docks", those crane jumps where hard if you didn't know the right tactic's. Offcourse while playing the game i only found about 40% off the secrets myself and after finisching the game i went back and get every secret with the help off the websites we all know.

City on water. I had a crappy PC back then, so doing that jump with 30FPS was a pain, in the end I just downloaded Powermad and used no-clip.

This is a tough decision, but
1.) City On Water balcony
2.) Opera: The last secret on the very top of the staircase
3.) Docks crane
4.) Palace pillar secret
5.) Old Monastery holy item on ruins
Note that this is based on the time when I tried to get those secrets. Now there are easier ways to most of them, so this does not apply anymore (couldn't pick an order now, because there don't seem any really challenging secrets anymore). In detail:
1.) I did the cones jump. That was really tough. Using the alternative ways across the roofs: easy.
2.) Still one of the harder ones nowadays for me.
3.) Well, easy if you know the route, but there's one particular crane-to-crane jump that freaked me out.
4.) Back then, without "preheating", I spent a lot of time on it.
5.) I took the way from the top like shown in Atari's video, which is not that easy. The approaches from the bottom (thanks Cyody) are easy.
The secrets in Battle out of http://img105.imageshack.us/img105/2773/text5kg.png were a lot easier than those in Painkiller, but if I could add one of those, then the third secret in Colloseum (the tightrope jump) also would be in this list. That was a *****.

Heh, I won't make a top 5, but if I did the #1 would be one of the two secrets in Forest. Only secret I never found. :p

Fun thread. I will classify the hardest secrets as the ones I've never been able to get no matter how many tries I might make. This excludes the CoW balcony since I've gotten pretty good at getting to that one in one try. The Opera secret is VERY tough but I did manage to get it only once so it's not on the list either. Some of the ones I've never gotten are so tough I don't even try for them anymore. Others I always try several times when I replay the level but still never get them. I guess that's how I'll order them:
1) Docks, all crane secrets (never try anymore)
2) Catacomb pillar (never try anymore)
3) Babel inside light bowl (never try anymore)
4) Forest secret one (I always try this one)
5) Palace jump pad (always try, always fail)

Two really hard secrets for me:
Catacombs vines/pillar
The 'first' secret in Forest
The Docks secrets were extremely difficult until I turned the resolution down. With reasonably high frame rates they're doable.
Forest is really not that hard, it is just that withuot autosaves it is hard, but if forest would be on nightmare, than this secret on arch would be little more than moderate, not really super hard.
Exactly.

1.) City On Water balcony
2.) Opera: The last secret on the very top of the staircase
3.) Docks crane
4.) Palace pillar secret
5.) Old Monastery holy item on ruins
This is my list exactly. Each of these was IMMENSLY frustrating, to me...

Why diddn't you just use you speed card ??
Oh n what's your favorite Maiden disc? I'd have
to say "Somewhere in time" myself.
...a voice from the darkness.....
Well, personally I don't believe in "hard Secrets" at all, but I rather believe in harder/easier methods... And we should respect rather the methods, not the Secrets, I think. Even if the Secrets are challenge the players (that's their "job"), however the methods are the results of the creativity of the challenged open-minded players (that's up to Them)... :)
As we know, many of the Secrets can be accessed by more than one ways, and some of them can be accessed even by 8-10 ways (the 1st Secret on "Abandoned Factory" is a good example). There are easier and harder ways for accessing a Secret, and we must count the using or not using of the cards too (especially the Speed card, what can help a lot) as a different method... Many "hard" Secrets can be accessed much more easier, if we know or find out a "better" method for them...
Let me have a few examples, even from BOOH...
- The vines-Secret on "Catacombs": the Speed card may help a lot here, although I haven't tried it yet. I use that method what I showed in my E2-video (needs good timing and well positioned vines, of course), and that works fine for me, but I can imagine that with Speed card, that method would be even more easier...
- The infamous Opera-Secret: well, Cyody and me use a very easy method for it, what requires higher FPS-values though, but we can get the Secret in only one or two tryings with no problem. We discovered this method seperately from each other, but Cyody already recorded it and shared the video on the Forums. I've also been using that method for a long time, however if I had to use the original way what AtaRi showed to us, I'd be suffering with it for a long time... :D
- Even the 1st Secret of "Opera House": I always hated that Secret with using the trashcans! It was so time-consuming. But today we now two more ways to access it extremly easily and in only a few seconds...
- The infamous MegaHealth-Secret on "The Palace": come on, that's simply nothing with Varus' barrel-jumping method! Even on Trauma... However the jumping ways from the window-sills are very hard methods: I managed to do it only once by AtaRi's and Cyody's method, so far...
- The 1st Secret on "Forest": it's much easier and safer with Cyody's method, but I can imagine using the Speed card here too (I've never tried it yet, but next time, I will)... ;)
- The balcony-Secret on "City On Water": to be honest, I've never managed to do it by jumping on the cones! I was suffering for about 3 hours with it one or two months ago (I wanted to do it by using that way too), but I wasn't success (maybe I was getting too less FPS-values? only around 50 FPS). However the other way isn't hard at all, I think (it may require a few reloadings though)...
- The crane-Secrets on "Docks": those are almost nothing with a good card-combination, I tried that...
- The Secret on the ruins on the "Old Monastery": earlier I used the method what I showed in my E1-video (using a rock to climb the slopy-arch), but recently I use Frag's method. And I have to say that Secret isn't hard with these methods. But with jumping down from above (AtaRi's way)..OMG, that's frustrating! :D
- The 2nd Secret on the roof on "Dead City" (BOOH): earlier that was a frustrating one with the tedious jumpings on those fire escape stairs. However last time I tried it with a Speed card, and I was surprised on the results: Daniel could jump from here to there even with standing jumps, with no problem! Also, even my PK-Jumping method with one of the cars (E2-video) makes it much more easier, if we're trying it from the right place (I usually get it for the 1st or 2nd attempt)..and without cards, of course...
- The balcony-Secret on "Colloseum" (BOOH): originally I found that way what I showed in the E2-video, and I still use that. So I use a barrel for getting the Secret. I also tried the fence-jumping, what was shown by Kalme, and I did it, but I found it very hard and frustrating...
And I could mention many other Secrets from many other places..and many other examples endlessly. As You can see, not the Secrets are hard, but the methods what You're trying to use against them. Even the most ridiculous Secrets can be very hard with a hard-method, and even the hardest ones could be extremly easy with a well-working method... Therefore I said that it depends on the methods mainly... :)

City on Water balcony very frustrating until I went into the editor and put a jump pad nearby, LOL
Now that's a very nice solution, hehe.
Well, personally I don't believe in "hard Secrets" at all, but I rather believe in harder/easier methods...
That's exactly what I should have said. The secrets I mentioned were hard for me because I didn't know how to do better back then. That was the reason why I said there are no really challenging secrets anymore in this game now.
As I recorded that secret in the first place, it took me a zillion attempts to manage this jump. I spent a lot of time searching the whole room for a better alternative, but couldn't find one. Funnily enough, as I played through that level again two weeks later, I did that jump in my first try. I just couldn't believe it and tried it again and again... out of ten attempts, at least five are successful now and I can't understand what was the problem back then when I desperately tried to do it. Weird.
Fleabay made it I think.
Fleabay did what you can still download as version "2.0" on my site. Everything else is from me.

As for my failed attempts at 5 secrets (only 5 I've never done which fits nicely with your list Artas1984), you're right, I shouldn't give up. The crane secrets I can do, I'm pretty sure. I just find Docks to be a very difficult level and don't like to lose all that health and armor. I really do want to do all the secrets in PK at least once before I finally get bored of the game, if nothing else it might inspire me to try the five star challenge someday. Losing a lot of health and armor shouldn't be a reason not to try a secret at least once. And I forgot about the Speed card. People say you can get secrets like the Catacombs pillar pretty easily that way, so next time I play Catacombs I'll try that. As for the Babel light bowl, I only just learned recently that you can't steer when you let yourself drop, but if you jump first you can steer quite a bit. I learned this last time I played CoW jumping down from the very first secret. I couldn't understand why I failed to make the window ledges on the way down to cut my damage, because I'd move up close to the ledge and let myself drop over. But I discovered if I *jumped* off the ledge I could make all of the windows quite easily and get down from the tower with almost no damage. I mean, of course I knew you could steer your jumps but it never occurred to me you *couldn't* steer if you just stepped off an edge. I think the previous times I tried the Babel light bowl I just let myself drop down from the cracks above. Since I'm playing Palace now, when next I play Babel I will try for the light bowl again.
I just don't know about the Palace jump pad. It's either very easy or it's impossible. I watched the videos but I just can't seem to do it. The other four secrets seem doable, but that jump pad, I don't know if I'll *ever* get that one.
I'm surprised so many people consider the Old Monastery secret so difficult. I got that one the first time I tried, the first time I played that level, by jumping down from above (and taking damage, yes, but I still got the card for that level).

OK..."back to the route 666"... :)
Hardest secrets for me caused by lower fps on my old system long time ago as I played PK:
1) Catacombs - vine jump
2) Opera - to the highest floor
3) Forrest - it was really difficult for me to climb the wall with 15-20fps
Hardest secrets to find the best way
1) CoW - balcony (that was really nice one - I love it)
2) Oriental Palace (I had to lauhg as I found the barrel jump as an easy funny way)
3) Town - Megahealth at the beginning because of the prossibility to climb with the wagon upstairs (not PKjump) - that's a very tricky feature from PCF
But my best outtake I did in the Docks...the item near the little cran, after the exploding cran...I saw this item very late and I searched for the way up to the building nearly 10-15min because I've ignored this little cran as ladder - he was to little... :D besides all the huge crans around. It wasn't my best day... ;)

2) Oriental Palace (I had to lauhg as I found the barrel jump as an easy funny way) Funny you should mention that. I was playing Palace again this morning before work (as I usually do, a little PK to wake me up in the morning) and I decided to use a barrel rather than that horrible jump pad and it was SOOO easy.
So I'm down to four secrets I haven't yet gotten (well, five I think, cause the cranes in Docks are more than one secret). I'll probably get to Docks again tomorrow or the next day, so keeping my fingers crossed.

Ratty! I guess Varus tells the truth, cause the barrel jump is made not to get the urn sercret, but the magahealth secret, and that is much more difficult, but anyway - i was really impressed of that Varus's jump also as of that Bloodbuster's jump in the end of palace fighting those knights giants!
But! Regards to that, sorry Varus, but i think that Cyody's preheat jump is greater than your's barrel, though your jump was really spectaculating, but in deed Cyody's was the real hardcore way:-)
I don't know, why so many people say that palace wooden jumpad is so difficult? Kalme posted a top in FAQ, where he shows the right direction, the jump is peace of cake and the jumppad in city on water is also very easy if you know the right direction to jump - oterwise you die, etc.
The most unpleasant way of that city on water secret is to get down - even if you go down successfully, you loose 50 golden armor.
Though of course any armor is nonsence, cause if Daniel would ware such golden armor, his mass would be ~ imagine ( 1 cube meter of gold weights 19 tons!)
What i hope from pk part 2 is the more realistic endevors, like in quake3 team arena, where bots in scout mode may not have any armor, then gain great speed.
Anyway - lets continue this great secrets grabbing site!

Regards to that, sorry Varus, but i think that Cyody's preheat jump is greater than your's barrel, though your jump was really spectaculating, but in deed Cyody's was the real hardcore way:-)
What a illogical context!
Absolutly true that's Cyody jump is a real hardcore way and I was very impressed, btw of all his videos and I know all and I like all very much.
But what has this jump to do with the searching for an easy way for lower systems and players with less skill???
All movies on my page, maybe besides "Crazy", were made to help those players and all were the result from question about this ways. It'd be a useless help to show things like the "Cone-Jump". Therefore is it logical too that my movies show always unspectacular ways and methods - it's their mission.
Personally I'm never interested to show or to make difficult jumps or speed runs because I like to play all games with a cup of coffee in my left hand ;). I like the skill of mind, the skill of tactic. If you'll get BooH and after this maybe you'll play Hills - then you'll see what I mean.
BTW it should be well known too that many jumps are inpossible with 20fps. ;)

Well (for me) there’s a lot to choose from. I'm not embarrassed to come clean and confess that I had MAJOR hassles with several of PainKiller's secrets. Of course not “each and every single one of them”, I managed to do more than a few in say around about a dozen attempts? But a lot of them definitely had me completely baffled, and there’s still quite a few that I haven’t been able to finish. I just figure in time I’ll eventually get there... I’m able to do jumps now that 3 months ago would have seemed absolutely impossible.
I agree with SYS, “there’s many different ways” (various methods to get to a secret) and some methods are easier to execute than others, depends on the individual really. The biggest help I got to improve on my technique was the videos you experts made. I fell to my death countless times trying to get the 3 Holy items under the bridge (Castle level) but after watching the vid just once, I got the hang of manoeuvring left to right while falling, then jumping and manoeuvring, presto!
I’ll have to get back to you Artas1984 with a list of my “5” Hardest Secrets... (but without a doubt, I spent hours experimenting with these two)
1. “City on Water - Balcony” - hundreds of attempts, so very close but no trophy! (my neighbours complained about the abuse and shouting!)
2. “The Palace - Jump pad” - The one time I did this one successfully, my computer froze up on me and I had to reboot. (lucky for my PC we have bars on our windows) I’ve pretty much given up on this one now, what is it “1” degree of deviation equals a failure? Forget about it...
Can’t do the crane at the Docks, the ruins in the Old Monastery, or the Catacomb Vines, but I have done the Opera House! WHOOHOO! So that’s “one” for me, LOL! :D

i agree with sys and varus! :)
i like secrets! but especially, i like the difficult ways to the secrets :D
maybe this is the reason, why i don’t like booh very much…..the secrets are *imho* too easy :(
but when i played pk the first time *uff* i had big troubles with many secrets :o
vines-jump
opera - higest floor
docks - crane secret #3
palace - jump-pad
babel – light bowl
and still some more.....*lol*
i also think, that pk & booh are very complex and difficult games! and maybe this is the reason why many people did stop playing pk/booh, because it’s very annoying for beginners to grab some secrets
or to fulfill the card-criteria in some levels! and people/players, who grab all the secrets and fulfill the card criteria for each level….those are *imho* hardcore-gamers. so the pk/booh community will always stay a small, but nevertheless, fine bunch of gamers! :)
The forest level will kill me! I am so tried))))

I agree with a lot of the secrets mentioned. City on water is a pain, and so is the Opera House one on top of the staircase. Docks for me isn't too bad, either is the palace megaheath--the key to these is using the speed card. Without it these are almost impossible. If you don't PK jump in the Town level, there are a couple that I just hate. The vines on catacombs is hit and miss--sometimes I get it in the first few tries, other times I'm trying for over half an hour.
...a voice from the darkness.....
Hey Pool, congratulations! Very nice work! And also, it's nice to meet You here on the Forums too! ;) You surely remember, we've had some great fightings in MP recently (in FFA only, of course), and I must admit that You're a very good MP-Player! * thumbs up * My game is rather SP, and I have no problems with any Secrets (seriously; LOL, that PK-model is mine for more than a year already), but I still really suck with MP, although I've started it just one month ago... :)
I agree with Cyody, anyway: most of the Secrets are very easy in PK+BOOH (especially in BOOH, most of them are just ridiculous), but..not for Beginners, of course. You'll have to use to the game and also, it's not bad if You know/find all the easier methods for each Secrets (remember, almost all Secrets can be accessed in multiple ways!)..and if You want to make WONDERS like Cyody did, then You must be well-skilled too... ;)

Alright! Let us summarize a little bit what we have!
Glad that so many members have replied in this thread and that it is so popular as i expected.
So from whom what i have heard...
These are the 5 hardcore secrets:
docks crane, cow balcony, catacombs pillar, palace pillar, forest arch.
That counter does not mean that forest is easyer than cow, it is not like "from the hardest to the easyest", cause everyone has it's own hardest one;-)
Another thing: ou come on, opera roof with 60 FPS is nothing...
CoW and Palace jumppads: these secrets are not hard at all, you just have to know how to jump on the correct angle of the jumppad.
Town's secrets: having pk-jump on those carts - they are easy made...
Catacombs second floor is easy cause you have boxes to climb...
Prison's vent is easy having boxes...
Train Station's are easy having lamps to pk-jump...
Factory's are easy having boxes...
Other hard secrets:
babel elipse jar,
cathedral universal ammo (if you will brake the coffin - you won't get it)
asylum outside,
bridge hidden megahealth,
castle arch underbridge,
docks megahealth in the crane,
monastery wall,
**** armor on that single rock high.
The most funy 3 secrets in the painkiller:
cemetery golden armor, cemetery keg rescue, babel press-blocks pk-flying on my 1.00 version, that is why i keep 1.00:-)

Hardest secrets.. for me from hard to easy they would be:
Docks' cranes (especially the single first jump)
City on water balcony (because of the dexter-jumping on the windows)
Catacombs third secret - the one by the many coffins - i don't know.. it's just too.. restricted, plus i never was the best in PK jumping anyway
Opera house single holy item at the top of the stairs
Factory first secret (i just hate it, i never go back to use the crane hook, never, and so i always struggle with the boxes which really takes it out of me every time)
I pretty much hate those secrets where you only get one shot to clear - like the CoW balcony (you miss = you fall in the water, which of course is ultra-deadly to Daniel cause he may be "the only one who can stop a war between heaven and hell", but is too much of a wimp to learn to swim, or the Docks cranes (falling damage) .. I also get frustrated with these, and other secrets, where because of the environment my FPS rate is reduced to 5 or so and getting the secret becomes next to impossible (rock on, my MX 440)
Secrets like the Forest arches, the Babel urn, the Town holy items (and megahealth, where i always spend an easy half-hour because i usually try to both 5-star the level, AND finish it with stakes only in one run), the Palace megahealth or the Catacombs vines tend to be less difficult to me, probably because you can keep trying again and again and again without fear of dying (a small exception are the Forest arches and the Catacombs vines because of the falling damage, but still it can be avoided if you jump the right way) and you know that eventually you'll get the secret.
And if we're talking about BooH too, my rating is
Colloseum rope-walking secret. It's disgusting :)
Dead city balcony jumping (the fire escape ladders)
Mines' holy items above water after the cart rides
Getting out of Stone pit's first secret
Orphanage second secret (on the terrace) - again, because of all the fog, hence my low fps, climbing that wire is horrific
Ya, i know BooH's secrets are not hard at all, compared to the ones from the original PK, but in relation to the other secrets in BooH .. :)

I can't argue with a word. I think I'd add the Holy Items under the bridge at the start of Castle. I've been playing PK since 2004 and only managed all the Dock's cranes secrets a few months back.
The reason I finally did it was a new higher-spec PC. As you so rightly point out frame rate is king in jumping. In celebration of my new found ability to jump, I made this vid - Jump! (http://files.filefront.com/Jumpwmv/;9720052;/fileinfo.html) Bearing in mind I was completely rubbish at jumping before this, it just goes to show the difference good FPS makes. Good luck with the new PC :)

1)Docks cranes - hate the level, hate those secrets :)
2)City On Water - balcony. On weaker PC 3 cone jump is impossible. We(me and shaddy) spent a lot of time on his PC - impossible. On my PC i like it :)
3)Town first secret without PK jump is very hard to take it.
4) Hell - I dont know the number of this secret. Jumping on some frozen stones. Always fall at least 2-3 times :D
5)First One in Castle. At least 3 times falling from tha ladder :) (stupid me huh..)
Didn't play Trauma yet. When I play Forest i will say is there some hard secrets ;)

It was a BUMB reply to this thread.
Ou Shaddy you ressurected such an old thing!
Actulay the first Forest secret used to be a daily wake-up routine after geting up, going to toilet, but before breakafasting - not exactly so, but you get the point guys..:D Forest was the place where your coffe drinking in the morning with all it' haunting music was pleasant, City On Water too!

Ooooh, that explains the name of that video (i think Varus made it) - "A 'coffee break' at the Trauma level." - guess Varus does that too :D

The hardest secret in the game is the one to wich you don't have an answer.

Cryptic :)
Is there actually anything in PK the community hasn't figured out yet?!

No, but there's a big difference between watching a Varus/cyody/kalme/SYS/Artas video and actually doing it :)

You're absolutely right. Mind you, the Docks secrets took me a good few years and a new PC to achieve :)
