It should be in Gamestop stores and most other stores by the time you read this. I hope they fix this but it's time to move on.

I just picked this up today. Is anyone playing this online on Gamespy? It looks like Internet play can have up to 4 players at a time.

There was a multiplay patch emediately after the game hit stores. Some complained that after the patch, single play started having problems.

Apparently they forgot that publishers used to warn gamers not to install a patch unless they were having problems!

I patched the game and haven't had any single player problems yet.

I am already playing it, and I love it!! Only thing, I don't really like how they did the save game....

Yes, the save feature is not right. Some gamers are alt-tabbing out and saving the save to another location before quitting.

That is a very console-save type system ... and pretty annoying. But the game in general is pretty well done.

I was also playing Metalheart: Replicants Rampage ... it is a Fallout clone (in terms of action-point, turn based combat) with really bad dialogue and translations, and none of the charm ... and really over-the-top swearing. I'm no prude, it is a M-game, but it feels unnecessary and wrong.

In DS2, they don't want people cheating death in the game. If you die and then decide to CTL ALT DEL out and end the game then you will still wind up in town with a loss of 25% of your gold. I didn't like it at first and then I thought about how it provided an even playing field when people died. There should be a penalty for death that people can't circumvent.

I'm staying away from Metalheart. I'm very cautious about buying any future Dreamsmasher game until all I hear is positive reviews across the board.

I'm really interested in hearing some feedback about this game, because this is one of the games I have been anticipating. I have not bought it yet as I am still playing Gothic II and I have Bards tale on deck, so I figured I would hold off for once and see what people had to say about it before buying. I did like the first one though it did not live up to my full expectations. So similarities/differences between DS1 and DS2 would help alot, and also just general impressions. One big thing I want to know is how does the combat compare to DS1? DS1 felt way to automated to me and if DS2 is the same I'll probably skip it.

Thanks guys

In DS2, they don't want people cheating death in the game. I didn't like it at first, but as I've played more it makes sense. I like the way you can lose nothing by just running back to your corpse ... if you dare! Otherwise you get varying penalties, all of which are well explained.

I'm staying away from Metalheart. I'm very cautious about buying any future Dreamsmasher game until all I hear is positive reviews across the board. Here's a positive review:
- The game is positively not worth buying
- The voice acting is positively atrocious
- The translations are positively appalling
;)

I'm really interested in hearing some feedback about this gameI'd have to say that it 'bites' because it is chewing through my gaming time :D I've barely touched Death Jr. for the PSP, and MetalHeart ... well, I suppose I need to finish it to write the review.

One big thing I want to know is how does the combat compare to DS1? DS1 felt way to automated to me and if DS2 is the same I'll probably skip it.I was no big fan of DS1, as I found it mind-numbingly boring ... and I'm not a Multiplayer gamer, so I didn't have that to do.

But I am thoroughly enjoying DS2 so far. I find the way the game is unfolding to be engaging, the quests to be pretty decent, and the production values and polish to be very nice.

They actually borrowed this concept from an MMORPG: Everquest to be exact. When you died, you lost some experience (which doesn't happen in DS2) and you had to run back to where you died to retrieve your corpse and all your belongings on it. If you decide to use the Necromancer to summon your corpse instead of running back to it, you lose a percentage of your gold for the trouble.

Of course, I had to try to circumvent this system today by CTL ALT DEL out and cancelling the game in the task manager and I failed. I still lost gold and ended up respawning in town when I logged back on. Oh well.

The game is not as automated as DS1 was. Now, if you click on a party member's icon, you will follow him/her and you will assist by attacking the same creature they are attacking. You can also place 2 spells in 2 Autocast slots if you choose (I put a healing spell in one). Other than that, there is no other automation.

I also like how certain doors can only be opened by certain classes. I ran into one door that required an arrow to be shot into it to open. It usually yields an item that is worthwhile for the class which opens it. There was also another door that only opened if a spell was cast on it and it yielded a treasure chest with a caster's staff in it. Pretty cool.

There are a lot of hidden surprises throughout the game. Make sure you search every little space.

That is so true ... I had done a fair amount, and was back in the first main town and then left again (not teleported) and found an area I'd never seen. Cool.

Well, I've got my characters up to level 19 now and I must say, Dungeon Siege 2 is FAR better than the original (if a little easy on Mercenary setting), and the world is lush and truly fun to adventure in. I was watching my boy play and he found a hidden area behind a waterfall - I could have sworn I traversed that area fully. Thats the fun of this game... not "quite" as linear as the original, not to mention gorgeous to look at, and its definately fun to explore nooks and crannies!

One thing that I have noticed that is a little frustrating, is that sometimes your party members will quit following you... slightly annoying but no big deal.

P.S. Man, I'm still trying to find the Haaku Usurper's cave... I must be blind. The leader said to look near the Elven Shrine but I'll be darned if I can't find it! :(

Just as a general comment I would say that the $50 I spent on Dungeon Siege II feels like a better value than the $20 I spent on Sacred Underworld.

I read the posts and I have to say in response to those who say that there are a lot of hidden places, using the word hidden is an insult for the world itself, look at the mini-map it shows the path, ALWAYS. In the waterfall for example, it doesn't matter if the lack of imaginiation of a pass behind a fall is an issue or not, the path is shown on the map, and the same for all of em.

One more thing, some of u guys talked about the save system, well I was playing and an internal error ocurred; when I enter the game again, my char passed from lvl 7 or 8 (don't remember) to lvl 2 and I was in prision... Honestly, makes u want never to play again... an autosave is essential and more with the saving methed they implemented.

I have to say though, that after attaining level 29 for my character in this game, the difficulty really needs to be ramped up. The only challenge I have faced so far is Round six and seven of the Aman'Lu Arena area... otherwise I am cutting swaths through everything, Boss Demons, Boss Undead, Boss Bosses. Its just a tad disappointing.

Still though, its a polished effort and an enjoyable slaughterhouse.

I don't think the patch addresses the "ease" issue. Like I said, not a MAJOR complaint, just a minor one. Overall I love the game.

I was pleasantly surprised at how good this game is (DS2, not DL). I didn't really like DS1, but the multiplayer issues from the first installment were nowhere to be seen.
