OK, i have patched PK to 1.64.
I thought it is easy to create server or join game like a 10 year old boy would do it, but it is not FUKING easy at all!
I am very depressed and barely can stand this join game "system".

Ok, could someone please guide me how to successfuly join a game and create one?
I don't need few words in answer, i need full tutorial.

My problems are: when trying to join the game a message comes no mater what server i choose to enter:

What damed things this message wants to tell?!!!

What kind of cd-key here is needed?
Nonsense! Should i write something? My painkiller cd-key would not fit here, cause it consists out of 25 numbers and here only 21 are required, so it is not the cd-key of the compact disc.
What do you write in that 4 stars slot people?!!!

As you can see, i am clicking on public server - yes or no.
If yes, after creating my own game a message comes:
"no challenge value received from the master server"

So that means nobody notices my server name in the server list right? Why???!!!

If i click "no public server", than no messages come, but i guess noone can join my game...

Artas, try to re-enter your CD-key. This is a 16 digit alphanumeric number in the following format:

xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx

Enter this code (including the dashes) and joining servers should work.

"no challenge value received from the master server"
I think this may be caused by a firewalled connection or a misconfigured router. I'm not sure because I never received such a message. But Gamespy needs various ports to be open/forwarded to make hosting a public server possible. This is taken from the readme of another game:

GameSpy is using the following TCP ports:
6667 (IRC)
3783 (Voice Chat Port)
27900 (Master Server UDP Heartbeat)
28900 (Master Server List Request)
29900 (GP Connection Manager)
29901 (GP Search Manager)
13139 (Custom UDP Pings)
6515 (Dplay UDP)
6500 (Query Port)

I don't know what ports are required for Painkiller, but since it is based on the same structure, it may be the same. Maybe someone knows a little bit more about that. To circumvent any problems, try to use one of the already available public servers instead of opening your own one.

What IP adress should i write here? My default DSL IP from the ipconfig or the IP of the server i want to join?

I have got it about creating my own server: everything is ok...
After i created a server i should have searched for him in the list, it was there: Marshocks house!
So i entered and everything was ok - low ping, FPS about 60, but sometimes this happens:

As you can see, in the right top there is a connection error, i do not know, sometimes it happens, and when it does, it feels like "noclip".
I am sure you understand.

So, i will be waiting for my victims or my slayers in Marshocks house!
I would like to know will you be able to join this server?

And about joining other servers - still bugy, the 16 digit cd-key is actualy the installation code, not the cd-key, but when i write him, it vanishes whenever i click other buttons...
My connection port is 3455 (default)
Can you change it to make available preferences?
If it is default, then it should be kept? I don't have wisdom in these things:D

noone will join your server
you got lowping but everybody else will have ULTRAhighping
I don't know which connection you have but if even you get lags (the connection prob you mentioned) ion your own server, it will be unplayable for other players...

as Kalme said you should use the available public servers... I don't know which one(s) you tried but some of them are laggy and some of them are not. it also depends on where you are and where the server is... you are in Lithuania so you should try to find servers that are located within europe.. joining a US server for example increases my ping from 33 (on a dutch server) about 120 (depends on how many ppl are on there) and vice versa of course. so it is always unfair for one player if you want to play one of your american mates.
I recently met GoreGrinder on an European server and we played against each other but it was unfair, because of his highping.... :(
if I remember well ASE (All Seeing Eye) shows all the available servers and their location.. maybe you should try that tool... so you can see where the server is and you can choose one that is not too far away....
but still; PK and it's netcode are laggy and it will be your connection.. creating our own server won't help because everyone who joins will hardly be able to play :(

Ah? Then -- in your eyes -- what IS the CD-key? Now I'm really interested in where you got another (25 digits?) number from :D

but when i write him, it vanishes whenever i click other buttons...
That's ok, it's intended that way so no one can read it if your computer is unattended.

@kalme, when i have bought the licensed painkiller 1.00 published by Akela, it had two serial numbers - the installation code and the cd-key.

The installation code was needed in the begining of setup:

****-****-****-**** (sample)

When PK was successfuly installed, it required the third CD in the CD-ROM to be played.
I inserted the CD in the CD-ROM, and was prompted to write the cd-key of the CD that is in the CD-ROM:

****-****-****-****

Then i installed BooH, and the game now would run with BooH CD, not with the third PK's CD. So now i was prompted to insert BooH cd-key:

****-****-****-****

And in the multiplayer settings there ain't no slots for the "real" cd-keys, than it goes that the installation code is required.

And tell me guys, why am i often geting in the right corner of the screen those connection error messages with the picture of the disconnected port?

Ye, i played duel with one dude, his ping was 30 - 40, my was 80 - 90.
He was had as much more frags than me as much the ping was lower mine's.
He had not bad aim with rlaunch btw, i am not very strong in aiming, that is why my spec is the single player and all kinds of jumping techiques:-)

that is the reason
it is a lag and it is caused by your "bad" connection... there is not much you can do against it. the only thing that helped me when I had a worse connection was to limit the fps via /setmaxfps x
I play with 125 today but it is not worse to play with 100 or even 90. if I play with less than 90 it is different.. but if I did not limit the fps my ping increased and I could often save 20 ping by limiting it to 90. you should try that... or get a better connection which is the worse/more expensive way :(
and of course you should not dload etc. but your ping would be a lot worse then...

btw artas do you have icq, xfire or something? we should make a match one day... I recommend you do get xFire as many member here have and use it... cu around- don't forget your RL :D

Artas, did You manage to solve the problem? And if so, then how? What was the solution...? One of my buddy suffers from the same thing: wrong CD-key, no challenge-info, and so on... We're going to try it out with disabled firewalls tonight, and then to configure the firewall to be able to see out to the Internet...

But if You have any ideas and suggestions, please hit me with that! You see, now I'm asking questions, but I really need help to solve this... :) Thanks in advance...

SYS and others:
There are no promblems now: i can create the game and see it the serverlist, also i can join others who are in the list.
Everything is with the installation code.

Warrning: it is not the cd-key that is required, but the installation code.
Once you write it in the slot, it saves as kalme said and you don't have to rewrite it everytime you open painkiller.exe
The only problem remained: in the bagining of the game i shortly get those connection errors, but they are gone after 20 - 30 seconds.

So! Not the cd-key, but the installation code!
This thing confuses lots of players, that is why pk mp is not popular at all - no one can play mp, cause lots don't have original cds with these keys.

I mean, in the begining of setup the first thing you have to do is match the installation code that as i said consists of:

After the installation, when you click to play the painkiller.exe starforce protection system "prompts" for the cd-key that consists of:
****-****-****-****-****

Do you see the difference?

I think you confuse those two things. In the slot where multiplayer options are, there you have to write the 16 digit code, not the 20.

Look, i find it stupid too that there is this installation code...

If you play painkiller MP you must have got the licenzed version and you must have written the 16 digit installation code, yes?

But..same here: only one code. And as I know, PK wasn't protected by StarForce (thumbs down for that stuff anyway), but with SafeDisc. I think maybe You have a "unique" version on it's own... :)

So the problem still unsolved here. And yeah, the buddy tried it with a non-original version (*whistles*). When it didn't work, my first suggestion was that "BUY THE DAMNED GAME!" (even PK+BOOH together is cheap in my country), but then I checked this topic, and I was confused, since Artas' game is a self-bought original. Now what? *confused* What guarantees that if the guy buys it, it will work...? If it will work for sure, then He'll surely buy it. Otherwise..I don't know, but that won't be my problem, so He decides...

SYS: i have registered in my country's forums, those also have some painkiller talk...

Do you know lots of people just download painkiller from FTP servers or by a pirate one with no cd-key?
That means they can not play multiplayer, and then say that painkiller is simply not popular. They are idiots!
One member asked me where from to download painkiller BooH..
I told him that i do not support this download **** and pirate things...
Do you see the problem?

SYS: you tell your cousin to by the original.
It is strange, but if you will only get the cd-key, i guess it will be sufficient.
You won't play MP with a pirate version.

I deeply agree: He MUST buy the original (especially because I know that He'll spend hours in it)! I know that many people have pirate-versions, but actually I wasn't sure about they can't play MP with those illegal copies and generated keys. So now we know the solution for sure...

I think I'll reply back soon when the problem is solved. Till then, I've just found out a new thing to try: we're going install and try the MultiPlayer Demo, since that's free, and that should work. Of course we can try just basic things (running an own server and checking it in the list, and since I also have the MP Demo installed, we even can play, I think), but that will be enough for now. The main problem will be solved this week too, I think...

Blood & I cant connect to Ur Server, we saw him in the Serverlist but unable to join.

1.Question : How do U start Ur Server? Is it in the GameMenue (& a Listen Server) or is it a Icon on the Desctop (& a Dedicated Server). If U dont know by Urself, open the Console & write /serverinfo.

2.We were happy to meet U & were verry impressed by Ur exellent Movement & still love Ur Movies & Communitywork. We were confused why U left the Factory, maybe Ur PC crashed maybe U was frustrated.

3.Imagine someone like Str1ker (pure & exellent MP-Player) is playing SP... Dont be frustrated! I hope to see U again soon & hope we are able to join Ur Server too.

I click the icon that creates a custom game in multiplayer (the 1.64 server icon), than i search in the online list for my created game and i can join it!
What message do you get? You saw Artas1984.lt and could not join?

You should try next time, if i can do it, you should be able to do it also.
And by the way - the ping in my own server is not 0 as i would thought, but from 10 to 30! So, a shity internet i have: 220 - 260 kilobits/sec.

You don't understand petja - i could not say bye! I had to restart PC immediately, had no time for by...sorry.

And about SP monsters hehe - kind words to my, but indeed SYS is my archguider, without his "entuziazm", i would not fall so deep in 5 stars!
Don't forget kalme too - he is also an SP monster;)
He has done something that i still have not! he is the master!
I wonder has he done everything what i have he he... kalme?

I can create a Server & have Ping 5 there too.
Everyone can join my Server(or i test a new "Map" or have a PW, i never had one), like U too.
Something was wrong with Ur PC-Server.

I dont make Videos during other People playing on my PC-Server, like the Rest of Us I only have this one "Machine".

Ur PC crashes? F*ck that PC!

The Installation Code is the same like the CD-Key. U will find him on the Back of Ur CD-Box (PK) or on the Manual (Black Edition).

Maby in black edition, but in PC - the installation code differs from the cd-key!
The installation code is needed in the sign-in zone of the multiplayer options field and in the begining of setup!

CD-KEY is needed once - when first time running the cd in the rom!

That at least is with my case...
