View Full Version : Starforce Removal
I have a really important question to ask: if I remove the starforce drivers (after uninstalling the game) with the tool downloaded from the Dreamcatcher site, there's the possibility of having problems with the normal functioning of the system?
I'm asking this because I've read somewhere that, after using this tool, you could have some problems like having no more access to the device manager...And, if this is true, how can I remove the starforce drivers without damaging the functioning of my system?
I really need a sure answer and I hope I can find it here in this official forum...
Thanks in advance for help :)

Once you have uninstalled the game you can use any STF removal protection tool (aslong as it is a legal tool) to remove the driver, if you should run into issues where you are not able to reach your CD/DVD drive, then go to "control panel->system->hardware->device manager" and remove your CD/DVD rom device and then find in the menubar "scan for hardware changes" This problem "could" occur is you have a CD/DVD drive that was manufactured in 1800-king-carrot, but in that case you wouldnt be able to play E:RT at all.
Ps. this is not the official forum for Enigma Rising Tide.
That forum can be found at http://enigma.tidesofwar.net :)
Thanks a lot Jesper for your answer and all your precise explanations :) (and sorry for the error about the "official status" of the forum ;) )
As you are so helpful, I would like to ask you two more questions (sorry if one of them is a bit off-topic):
1)The starforceClean (the tool I've downloaded from the patch section in the dreamcatcher site) removes all the stuff concerning starforce (and so if I have another game protected with starforce, I'll have to reinstall it) or only the one concerning E:RT?
2)There's a way to make the game start with the screen resolution at 1024x768? Because the only way for me to start it is setting the general scren resolution at 800x600...I can change with no problems to 1024x768 inside the game options, but is a little tiresome changing everytime the general screen resolution before and after playing E:RT
Again thanks for all the help :)

1: I have no idea but I will assume you have to reinstall your other games.
2: if you quit the game when the resolution is set to 1024x768 it should be that the next time you start the game.
Doesnt that work for you ?
Thanks for the new answeres :)
About the resolution problem: yes, if I set the resolution to 1024x768 inside the game options, it remains like that also the next time...the problem is at the start-up, when the introduction screens are loading: if I have the general screen setting of the pc at 1024x768, the screen becomes black when I launch the game (but I can hear the background music) and I can't go on...only if I set the resolution at 800x600 before launching the game there are no problems and it starts normally...really annoying :(

Really? that sounds odd, which Videocard do you have and Which Driver Version do you have for the card ?
I have an Ati Radeon 9000 64mb, with the latest drivers installed...In fact is very strange, it seems to be a problem with only the introduction of the game, that unfortunately freezes the start-up of it at 1024x768

I would have gone to look at ATi's support pages, but they are trying to force their cookies on to my syste, unforturmally I am not wanting their cookies so I can not access half their website.
Stupid policy from their side, I sent their webmaster(s) an email explaining to them what server-side session cookies are meant for :D
I've at last solved the problem...it was a really silly and unforeseeable thing (silly as in fact Ati's policy about cookies ;) )...I've tried closing the Ati bar (the tool for launching Ati's multimedia center) that was usually active on the desktop, and now the game starts normally also at 1024x768...However, thanks a lot Jesper for your helpfulness and advices :)
