Recently i have played docks (5star docks on trauma) and discovered some useful things, those can help alot.
First i have discovered a shortcut that allows to avoid the third area.
I always thought that there is an invisible wall, that does not allow to do what i did, but lol - it looks like there is a little secret passage! Watch this:

When you reach the big-crane second secret with 2 holly items, you can get back to the 5 checkpoint with no damage in alternative way:
http://media.putfile.com/safe-landing1 (7,55 MB)
Another alternarive way from the same place:
http://media.putfile.com/safe-landing2 (6,11 MB)
Fast jump to LUMBAGO ship alternative way with no damage:
http://media.putfile.com/way-to-lumbago1 (4,46 MB)
The original jump to LUMBAGO ship with no damage:
http://media.putfile.com/way-to-lumbago2 (3,21 MB)
This secret can be accessed in other way with no damage:
http://media.putfile.com/fence-secret (5,35 MB)

For this one i also found a nice alternative way:

Nice one (several?), Artas. I love finding anomalies in the game like these. It's stuff like this that makes it worth coming back to PK again and again.
Out of interest, is it just the video quality or do you like it dark. In some clips, it almost looks like night (like Babel). Mind you, I do like my Gamma turned well up!

Artas, as I said in the other topic, these new videos are amazing... Thanks for sharing! :)
I've never thought of that shortcut at the 2nd CheckPoint, but that video is also interesting from another aspect, what I already mentioned in the other topic: You can pick up the SA later, after You cleared at least 2 of the 3 crane-Secrets - that can be useful sometimes (and it's an interesting discovery, if it works - it should work)...
The "safe-landing1" is the method what I've been using for ages, and I use it exactly the same way as You showed. The 2nd variant is very clever, because I also tried that way many months ago, but I never tried to jump towards the left side from the crane, and after reaching the ground, I thought it's not possible to pass those big boxes (boxes as walls and "invisible walls" above them). Well, I was wrong... :)
The two ways to Lumbago are OK, I know them both: I use the 1st method to get back to the ship, if I had to leave it for some reasons at the end (experimenting, finding missing ammo, etc.)...
The last two Secret-videos are OMG-ones! * thumbs up * I also thought that it must be possible somehow to reach the top of that building, but I never tried experimenting with that, and I didn't have any good idea about where to start. Very nice stuff, both! ;)

My gamma is 1.5
Brightness is 0.5
Contrast is 0.75
It is dark because it is recorded with gamecam and adjusting video brightness in GC somehow does not seem to differ if it is 0 or 90.;)

Thank you both, and i also did not expected to find an invisible wall passage.
First i thought that you just can get through, then like in milbase i have found invisible wall and disapointed until...that happened!
Mainly some of the tips i have shown are good for speed runs in docks level.

Ok, here is a new docks shortcut i have figured out:
http://rapidshare.de/files/13842167/docks_shortcut.wmv.html
Btw, i must thank cyody for this one, cause originaly first time i saw how he climbs on the crane and i stole that idea for using it for as a shortcut.
This shortcut is very hard however and noramly takes even more time to do it than to finish docks without using it, unlnless you do it quickly ansd skillfuly.

Game Cam does not record any darker than Fraps, I have many videos of both without adjustng brightness that prove it. Also, there is no brightness adjustment except in the Game Cam Full version.
Since older versions of both the demo and Game Cam Lite had preview windows rather than the new Status Bar, I didn't want to assume you had Game Cam Full just because there is a preview window present. I also assumed since you are not recording game sounds it is more likely you are still using an older demo version.
Also, you can eliminate the preview screen from your screenshos by hitting \ + F4 before taking one, or simply F4 if it's an older version.

So yes, the first part of the shortcut was based on a video i saw that was made by cyody (not coydy - lol).
Here it is, one of the ways to get the IVECO secret:

You will notice that he climbed on the different crane than i did.

The hardest part of Docks, and the part I dislike most, is the very first area after you get down from the crane. I always take so much damage and don't really have enough good ammo or weapons, and lately I like to play the game without taking any damage at all, thanks to FragManiac's Leningrad example. I'd love to see someone do a no-damage version of that first part.
Well the mega-armor and megahealth secrets at the beginning help a lot :)

Alright, made this video by your request:
http://rapidshare.de/files/13894138/docks_start.avi.html
It is the start of the docks level that shows how to get 2 secrets and land without damage - all in one.
Hope you gona download it, for i don't do it just that noone would not look at it.
Any way it is not so hard as my last docks crane-jump shortcut.
Watch it smal screensize.

Hope you gona download it, for i don't do it just that noone would not look at it. Of course I watched it Artas1984! I love painkiller videos (and why don't I enjoy so much gameplay videos from other FPS games?). Thanks for making it. Actually I have that crane jump down fine. Jumping around to the ladder took me awhile to get the hang of, but I finally got that down so I can get it everytime. It's the part *after* getting down from the crane where I take all the damage. Those guys with the machine guns have good aim and I can never seem to get a clear shot before one of them nails me. I was hoping for advice on a good camping strategy or something. For some reason I can get through all the other firefights in that level without taking damage. but that first one ... I don't know what it is about that one. Maybe cause there's so much stuff in the way.

Ou i see, i got you wrong.
So it is the fightings you strugle with!
Only LOL - they have nailguns, not chainguns!
However camping is not my style, and i don't think that some damage is the "end of the world".
If i am to make a video in start of the docks, it def will be a quick rush!
So, i rememer frag did his series in docks too, i watched them and saw how he landed on the ladder with no damage, so that action was seen first in his video and from then i do it all the time.

However camping is not my style, and i don't think that some damage is the "end of the world". I LOVE camping! And, referring to the other thread on this forum about Painkiller vs everything else, isn't it great how Painkiller gives each of us what we want? You can play through the game without ever camping even once and enjoy it just as much as me who loves to find those secret, devious methods of outwitting the game. Painkiller has a way of giving people just what they want. The camping videos are my favorites. I don't remember who did the videos but my favorites were the one where you hide behind the iron maiden in Orphanage--hats off to you whoever you were, take a bow--I always dreaded that classroom. And the fairly recent one, Babel, which shows the sneaky camping spot at the top of those stairs where the burning barrels and rolling dogs and those other big guys come rushing out at you.
Some damage isn't the end of the world, it's just what I'm into lately, kind of an extra challenge for me. I mean, face it, getting through that first area of Docks alive isn't any kind of problem at all. But getting through it without any damage, well that's a challenge. I found your crane jumping technique in Docks VERY useful. I'd been skipping the cranes just to avoid the damage lately. So a big THANK YOU for these great videos!
Here's a more-than-easy shortcut I found in the Docks:
