This was a problem in the demo for me too. The bink video ( i assume ) prerendered cutscenes run very choppy however the game runs fine on very high settings. Even on loadup the nvidia logo and whatnot runs very very choppy. Like 5 frames ( stops for a second ) 5 frames ( stops for a second ) over and over.

Welcome to the forum...

I guess you've not much memory? Or you could have a problem with your codecs.
What are your specs?
Have you tried to run the bik-files Painkiller/Data/Movies alone?
Which player will start?
Have you the bink-player installed? (DL the freeware and test it with this RAD Video Tools)

Maybe your BINKW32.DLL in your BIN folder is corrupted. I've uploaded it:
BINKW32.ZIP (http://www.shuto.ch/users/adre/aGe/Varus/BINKW32.ZIP)
Have you installed a "codec pack"? Some of those codec packs causes failures.

Before we can help, we need to know what your computer has to offer. Because maybe your computer sucks, you didnīt tell.

I just tried it over my friends house, his computer is far worse then mine. He has a geforce 5200, i have an bfgtech asylum 5950 ultra, a 3.2 ghz intel p4 processor and 1.5 gigs of corsair XMS series low latency memory. The movies ran perfectly fine on his computer however his computer could only run the game on low. My computer runs the game on highest setting at 1024 x 768 with an average fps of 40. The movies however chug extremely slow and glitchy, pausing for a second or two between ever few frames.
