Ok, so I beat the fourth boss and I get the tarot card, but right after that when the movie starts playing, my computer freezes.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I would love to play more of the game =D
And now I can't even play it, I load the level, and 2 seconds in, the game crashes.

We need more detail here, hardware info (video card, processor, etc.), graphical settings you use, if youīve installed patches etc.

Latest drivers I think
I don't think i've installed any patches, lemme try that out first.
Also, everything is in high detail on the game.

Get your patches from here - http://www.gamershell.com/patch_download_archive_P.html?orderby=name - these are known to be bug-free.

Which level?
I think you have a problem with your installation of the game - patching wouldn't help (at first).
But if you've PK1.0 (!) then you'll need 1.35 or 1.61 (if you'll later install BooH (1.5) then you have to repatch again) (1.62+1.64 for MP)

I did all the patches, and loaded the game from an earlier save. However, the movie still freezes after I beat the fourth boss.
Do I have to reinstall the game?

If you'll load an earlier save....then I hope it's from the same version of PK!
Patching will break all saves...besides of autosaves 00:00.
You try to load C5L1 City of Water? Then use your autosave that you got after C4...
The freezing movie is maybe caused by a corrupted bik-file. You can try to play it outside from the game (Data/Movies) with the Bink-Player.
(BTW - in Trauma you can't select C5L1)

I reinstalled, and yet the movie still crashes. I think the movie file is corrupted, but reinstalling doesn't help. Could someone send me their end of ch4 movie file that works? I wanna see if that solves the problem, thanks.

OK, so the video plays perfectly fine on the Bink player, and it still crashes in game. Any other suggestions? I really wanna beat the game lol.

Use "ESC" button in the game to skip the movie parts.

The thing is, as soon as the movie starts, everything freezes. Alt+Tab doesn't work, neither does the windows button, everything just freezes.

Have you tried deleting the movie files? In most, if not all games, the game will skip the movies if the files arenīt present in their proper location.

Hey, ive got the game since yesterday and ive got the same problem as you, only difference is that mine freezes when the company logo's are shown or when you start the game and the intro movie plays.
These are my pc specs: - amd 64 4400+
- 1 gig ram
- geforce 7800gtx
- asus a8v-e-se

Itīs possible that you donīt have the codecs for the format the movie files use.
You can try to google them up, maybe something like BIK codecs.

Mostly games are using bik-files for the movies and always on the same way...calling the binkw32.dll with the movies name. Those binkw32.dll comes with any game and is in the game folder. It's normally not necessary to have the bink-codec that you'd need to play the movies as stand alone. You can find the free player here:

BTW...you can move the movie folder outside the game folder for testing without them

After a long time of perfect intros ... my Dreamcatcherintro stoped and the game didnt loaded. I have the BlackEdition (1.60) and patched it 1.61 / 1.62 and 1.64.
First way: Press 3x ESC to skip the intros and Ur gamemenue should load.
Second: Go to http://www.radgametools.com/ and download the fee BinkVideoPlayer, install him and try to play the intro with him. (My intro still stoped, so from this point i knowed that my files was damaged.)
Third way: On my BE/DVD is a folder called /Data/Movies and i just copied the intro from DVD to my gamefolder. The filesize was the same ... maybe a gamecrash damaged the intro. Who knows?
4.) way: The deleting of the file might work too, i didnt tryed this but: take any other *.bik file and rename it to "logo-dreamcatcher.bik" then U have a other intro running.

Ouch, it seems that not only is the intro damaged, it seems to be damaged on the disc too. Is it dirty in any way or are there scratches, if not, you could also get a replacement copy if possible.

I tried to play the videos with the blink player and everything works fine outside the game but ingame the movies still freezes up after a bit.
So for now i'm watching the movies in windows and skip them ingame, all works fine then but still this is a bit annoying.
Gonne try to install it on my old pc this afternoon and see if its the same problem on that one.
