movie stutters

Not a biggie but when I get to the cut sceens the movies stutter and the sound is poor. I play on a nvidia GeForce4 MX4000 and my PC has a Celeron 2.3 GHz cpu. Any ideas? :o

Your specs are pretty outdated, but it shouldn´t stutter I think. Does the game stutter while you play?

BTW...I guess you've not much RAM too? 256Mb or more?
Encoding the bik-file ingame is surely a problem of your slowly PC...try the bink-player...(link above)

RAM shouldn't be a problem as I upgraded to 1gig some time ago. The game itself doesn't stutter though it does slow down quite a bit in some sections [ like the necrogiant and the oriental palace] even though I have the video options turned way down or off. I more than meet the min requirements but not quite on the recomended. My V-card has only 64MB so that might be some of the problem. Thanks for the bic suggestion, I'll look into it.[though as you might have guesses from my login name I'm not that informed on the inner workings of v-games and really don't know what a bink player is.]

You meant bik?
It's the video-codec of the inGame movies. You'll find them in your
Painkiller/Data/Movies folder. You can watch them with the freeware stand alone player from RAD Video Tools, the developers of this codec.

I installed the bink player and all is well. Thanks to all who replied. Now all I need to do is figure out how to make that jump to the little windowsill for the last holy item in the City on the Water and I'll be doing OK :). Thanks again.

If you can't get out of this trouble with the jump then you'll find some movies about this on my page (signum below)...have fun :D
