I like dungeon lords I like the concept and the fighting system it just needs the bugs fixed and it should be a great game, of course I like liver and onions also I know ill get flamed for my positive comments but who cares. I am sure the patch will come out in due time and in the mean time ill just continue to play Neverwinter Nights and read on the progress of Neverwinter Nights 2.

I like the concept of dungeon lords also, as do many on this forum even if they are posting ill comments about it. the game itself play nicely it is just the state of the game, I.E. not being finished and missing oh so much that you discover after playing it a bit that upset most of us complainers. Well at least me...The bugs on top of that well... I doubt it will ever feel like a complete game to me, but it also isn't the first game I felt that way about.
I wonder if anything I amde for NWN model wise will be able to be used in NWN2.... Probably not... I wonder how Dragon Age is going to turn out...
I Like This Game Too...
After The 1.4 Patch I Really Hope I Could Dream About An Addon.
I HAVE JUST FINISHED THE GAME AT THE LEVEL 47...

I think I would say "I WANT to like Dungeon Lords".

I like it well enough, too, but it has a lot of unrealized potential. Still, as a hack n' slash RPG it's not bad, as long as you don't expect more.

Yeah. "Pool of Radiance" had alot of unrealized potential too.... and so did "Temple of Elemental Evil".... the list goes on and on.

Yes, but I didn't buy those ones, having read reviews first! So I'm making the most of this one. Good mindless fun.
Seriously, I am enjoying it. But then, as I've said before, I haven't encountered any really nasty bugs. I could change my tune pretty fast if I run into a game-ender.
But I like the character development system, and now that my mage has fast regeneration of rune and crystal spells she is doing pretty well against high-level enemies. I've stuck with light armour and weapons, having 11 points in each, and am now concentrating on the magic side of things.

Herein lies the irony. This game was "supposed" to be an RPG at its very core. Not mindless fun. Granted there are a couple of mazes and puzzles, but overall, not the touted RPG it was supposed to be.

That's I think the biggest PR problem with the game. It was touted as a deep RPG, but it really turned out to be a good replacement (potentially) for D2. I can understand why lots of people are mad about that.

Well I never really saw it as anything else but as a better replacement for D2 or a more action oriented NVW but was dissapointed given early talks with CHUK and the massive potential the game had. If the game had a functional multiplayer that would have worked it could have done much much better. Really it is the lack of communication by the pubs, devs etc that ended up killing the game. In all honesty I never encountered any game ending bugs or system compatibility problems and I run a modified SC420 dell server as a desktop. I still think if the guys and gals at DC were serious about it they could still reserrect interest in the game with some serious patching and better communication, especially given the lack of decent "dont pay for multi player" rpgs. It still has potential but unfortunately the game appears to have been left by the wayside. But when 1.4 comes out I will be playing again since the RPG landscape in terms of currently released games is so barren.

True. It is more FPSlasher than anything else.
But heck, what do I know? I actually played Lionheart twice all the way through! And then threw it away because I was too embarassed to take it back to the store for a trade-in. The other game I bought in the last few yers that really made me feel a fool was Gorasul. That one hit the bin after about three hours of play time.
I have to say that Dungeon Lords does not fit that extreme category. I will probably finish it even without the patch (barring, of course, nasty bugs).

I never found anything wrong with the game except not being able to play dress-up when creating a character. I was fortunate to get the very first English release 1.0 which patches flawlessly. Yeh, can hardly wait to do a new series of playthroughs with some patching.
I think the game play is great. I have a lot of fun with it, and I have enjoyed replaying it just as much. I really like the skills - how they advance, and the 5-way magic system. The bugs and incompleteness did not impact my enjoyment very much at all, mostly because this forum warned me and gave me work arounds. After the 1.3 patch, the only bug I saw was the Ancient Elder firespout bug - and that was no biggie because I had a recent save.
Usually I prefer deep RPG's, first person perspective if possible (Ultima Underworld, Daggerfall, Morrowind). But I had fun with the Hexen and Heretic series based on the Doom and Quake engines.

I don't care about character customization. I just don't want to have to hex edit the game to get past save spots or finish quests. Whatever is broke, just fix it and leave the cosmetic stuff for last. There's too many spoiled Xbox fanatics overfocused on graphics and minor details.

I want my character to look like a member of ZZ Top.

I want my character NOT to look like Julie Andrews, which she does right now.
