In a move unprecedented within the video game industry ElectronicArts and DreamCatcher Interactive are pleased to announce that the next installments of the Future Perfect (http://www.ea.com/official/timesplitters/timesplitters/us/index.jsp) and Painkiller (http://www.painkillergame.com/) franchises have been combined into a single game being developed by Futrix Studios.

It's a fairly interesting storyline, but if I have to play a cartoonish looking blue haired chick, I think I'll pass. All the worse if the whole game looks the same as the graphics shown.
We are in the age of realism, give me lifelike looking models and environments, not something that looks like typical Japanese anime.
If the game itself doesn't look as I described, they certainly didn't pick a very good ad for it.

How can anyone even make such an assessment? We don't even know much about the game, and what has been briefly explained doesn't even remotely sound like PainKiller or TimeSplitters. It does sound interesting already though. I'm sure they aren't explaining everything so only time will tell on what it's really going to be.

I think, unfortunately, Fact...but. I've not previously heard of the developer Futrix, although Gamershell.com (http://www.gamershell.com/news/26741.html) had this news update two days ago: "Futrix Studios, a studio formed by former Ritual designer Thearrel 'Kiltron' McKinney, announced Future Killer, a first-person shooter for the PC set in a futuristic Earth where you play the part of the only survivor of a failed genetic experiment (thanks Blues). Just visit their website for a brief presentation of the background story."
While I believe that game will come out, and is in development, if EA had anything to do with it, then there'd be far more coverage of the announcement (ex. We haven't seen hide nor hair of the "Next-gen console Simpsons title" that EA have announced, but that didn't stop the story appearing here, there and everywhere, when that was announced...)
So, I'm suspicious about the whole TS+PK=FK (there was only the most recent edition of TS to include the word "future" anyway.) Also, why develop this supposed amalgamation of the two solely for PC? Many current PC FPS titles effortlessly trump TS (maybe PC gamers are still sore about Goldeneye 007, though, lol! :p ) but if I had the opportunity to play, say, FEAR on 360, versus the supposed Timesplitters sequel, I know which i'd pick in an instant.
In addition, the Timesplitters series has an existing sizeable console following, across all platforms, already.
I think the idea is slightly ludicrous tbh, but I suppose it could all be in the execution.
