:confused: I installed Painkiller and then BOOH, updated 1.61, 1.62, and 1.64... The BOOH plays fine... But for some reason when I try to play the original version, it begins to load the first level about 1/4th of the way, freezes... I alt-tab and it says, "Old waypoints don't work with savegame." or something like that.

Anyone know what I'm missing or something I have to do?

this explained the reason
"installing this patch will break any previous savegames that are not quicksaves or saved in version 1.61"

He isn´t loading a save game if I read his post correctly.

Painkiller 1.0 works fine for you, and so does 1.5 after installing BooH, maybe you´re downloading corrupted version(s) of one of the patches.

The patches from Gamer´s Hell website are not corrupted versions, if you didn´t download them from there, you can try that.
(if you have a slow connection, I feel sorry for you...since I have a slow one myself)

thx for the advice, but it didn't seem to work... And yes, I wasn't loading a saved game... Because I can't get into the original game to actually save. I downloaded the patches from 2 different Sites (Filefront and Gamershell) I still have the problems... Not really sure what to do, maybe uninstall them, install patches, in all different combinations and see if that'll solve it. Or install each patch one at a time to see if a certin patch is corrupt.

Reinstall step by step and test it between the steps.

Don´t install the patches in different order, that will mess things up pretty badly.

Try this:
1) Install Painkiller
2) Install BooH
3) Install 1.61

And try in between if the game works, try after installing Painkiller, then after installing BooH etc.
And then tell us the resaults. :)

I think I finally fixed it... Apparently your CDs CAN be dirty enough to install but not correctly...

Since I thought I was going to be installing a couple times I decided to make CD Images so I could install the game faster by using my computer... As I started making the images however I started coming across cd read errors... since my image maker was set to stop after finding an error, I had to clean the discs and they work fine.

So for anyone else reading this post and you may have the same problem, check your CDs, for some weird reason just because the game installs, it doesn't mean it installed properly... That is why the patches screwed up the game.

Also a minor note: Patches from Filefront are a correct version as well as Gamer's ****... And normally downloads faster (If you have broadband)

First off, during installation it freezes in the same spot for Disc 1. If I remove it and then put it back in installation continues just fine through the next 2 cds. The game turns on fine but after I hit the button to do the first mission it freezes on the loading bar, same spot every time, and that error pops up that the originator of this thread was having. I hit 'enter', it goes away, and loading continues until I reach the game where I fall to my doom. The weapon works fine, the sky can be seen but the rest is grey fog.
I've tried reinstalling over the game, uninstalling and then reinstalling. I've tried the patches, and the only thing that has changed is where on the loading bar the error pops up. My discs are clean as well. I'm out of ideas and want to know if there's something I missed. There's a couple tiny scratches that came with disc 1 but no more than is on other games on ocassion.

That didn't help unfortunately. I'm still having the same problem..I have to load the game with cd 3..which seemed odd so when the problem persisted I tried switching cds before starting a new game and that didn't help either..

BTW: CD 3 is the Play-CD (Painkiller)

Yes it is..That's what I meant when I said 'it' didn't work. sorry for the confusion..That other thing with the Cds was my attempt at dealing with a bit of boredom and trying something different since nothing else seems to be working.. Everything is updated so it should be working..I tried, yet again, with and without the patches.

Tiny scratches? Ummm...

My mother had my PK CDs hidden in the stone tuft: after i "regained" the CDs i noticed tiny scratches left by that "stone-filament".

The game stopped installing after 22 percent of progress.
I had to choose: moms gona buy my a new PK (what sounds stupid) or i am going to deal with her cosmetics...

:) CD players do get dirty and the lens covered by whatever is sucked through the player by the fans in the case.
Most of the time a cleaning disk with a tiny brush on it will do the jobs nicely but sometimes you just have to remove the drive take the top off and give it a good cleaning.
In those cases a Qtip and a mild solution like say eyewash or distilled water will clean it pretty good without leaveing a residue.
You may want to inspect the lens after as well with a magnifieing class to see if any dust was missed or lint from the Qtip was left behind.
Any dust covering the lens will reflect and refract light so it would be easy to get corupt files more and more.

Is it possoble to copy the complete CD to HDD and burn this again to another CD? I wouldnt open the player to clean the lense. Maybe i would destroy more then i clean?

Well, i just bought a new PK and did not told her about PK at all, but i was so nervous that i kicked my house wall with a leg and made a 30 cm wallhall.

She hates me sitting by PC, so she dares to take all my discs and hide them.
Man, i bought them with my own money (i worked as a waiter)!

BTW...on version higher than 1.35 CD1 is the CD for starting the game.

I hate people that don´t respect your hobbies. If your mother doesn´t like your hobby, then go into war, hide your discs from your mom. Or better, extract all the data from the discs onto your HDD if you have enough space. So your mom would be doing useless hiding.

Btw, maybe your mom is hiding your discs because of how "emotional" you get, like kicking a wall...just a hint. ;)
