View Full Version : a new pk fun-video!

last summer, i produced a fun-video. my goal was to make a video, that should transport the joy & the fun that i feel, when i play this awesome game. but i wasn't satisfied with the produced vid (it was too boring) and so i never published it.
last saturday (i searched my harddisk for some cathedral-videos), i rediscovered the video and watched it once again. now, after some months, i thougth the video is not so bad at all. and after i asked sys, what he think about this kind of video (he meant i should publish the vid), i decided to make a new and a *imo* better version of the video.

yesterday i finished the vid and now i think it’s time to publish the new product of my work.
the video shows funny & stupid game-scenes and some action-scenes too. one scene in my video is a fake one! i recorded this scene in slow-motion. after that, i speeded it up via my video-software, and now it looks pretty realistic! so i decided to include this fake-scene in my “fun-video”!

my speciall thanks goes to “sys” for hosting my video on his webspace and for his help and support - without that - i never would have published my video!
hey buddy, i thank you deeply from my heart! :)

and now, i hope you will enjoy my video!

cyody, you, as some members here have said, are the proffesor of painkiller.

Your videos always inspire me, and i entertain myself more in PK, though gaming in general is dangerous for your mind:D if too much.

My gosh, the best thing i liked was your painkillerjump on on the hook.

You know, i also have something to show about the exact situation in factory with the same hook. You reminded me of painkillerjumps with this thing.

How da heck you managed to make that dog spin lol? Gosh. You own PK!

I don't understand how you weren't satisfied with that video when you first made it... it's brilliant! I particularly enjoyed that rendition of "Ring of fire" that complemented the video so well.

Wonderful stuff. I was most impressed by the use of lava balls in the "Fountain Courtyard" in the Palace. It never occured to me you could interact with them. I've been thinking that there must be some fun to be had with 'world moves x8 slower' but speeding it back up again wasn't one of them. Brilliant. But my favourite, without a doubt, was Freezing the Commando in mid-air so he landed on his hands in some kind of demented yoga pose. Hilarious.

More, please

I know you make nice videos Cyody, but this is DLing very slow for me as most of them have.

I have a new 7MB connection, and still it is DLing at only about 45kbps, almost 4 times as slow as my aveage DL speed with my previous 1.5MB connection.

Sorry but this is the reason I've not seen many of your videos. :(

I have tried speed boosting downloaders, but really don't like them, the ones I've seen are a bit too complex to use.

many thanks for each single reply/comment! that was very important for me and it makes me very happy! :)

@PeTjA

i'm very pleased, that you posted the download-link for my vid on pkeuro! *totalfreu*

@ artas

one year ago, i visited this place in a.-factory. but i mainly discovered invisible walls :(
perhaps you discovered more?! i'm looking forward..... :)

@ Blaise

yeah, i also like this version of "ring of fire" by h-blockx :) and the song has the exact rhythm/speed, that i searched for my video.

@ frag

i'm sorry for you, frag! but i have no idea why you can't download the file with normal speed
with my 1,28 mb connection, i can download the video with155 kb/s average. a few minutes ago, i tried the download-link with firefox and ie - and both worked fine!

as you are a very skilled player, your comment would be most interesting for me! so, maybe you could try downloading the vid once more :)

as you are a very skilled player, your comment would be most interesting for me! so, maybe you could try downloading the vid once more :)It's most likey that you are over in the Euro area. You guys often have problems with the speed of Putfile and Filefront for instance, where as others here in the states do not.

Justy tried it again with both Opera and Firefox, still 45kbps for each. I've been trying out Opera the last couple of days after hearing some lofty claims about it. Though it has reasonable speed and one of the best pop up blockers I've used, it appears they are having problems.

I am getting everything from Bad Gateway errors to exremely slow or non existent home page loading. At times I cannot even log in to the Opera Community page. Some speculate they were not well enough equiped to handle the the large amount of subcribers when they went free.

While there are certainly some nice things about this browser, I think it's premature to say that it is better than IE or Firefox. Some things it is not very good at, like importing bookmarks, and linking to some sites you're registered on (like Image Shack). I've yet to be able to link to some of the sites I've registered on as being logged in.

For the last 12 hours I've Googled and found several links of people complaining about the Bad Gateway errors and not being able to access personaized and home pages, yet the Opera forum has no one representing Opera explaining it.

(EDITED) OK, finally got it DLed, very nice video! Two monks at once definately qualifies as juggling, you should join the circus with that act!

One of the things that really impressed me was the quick run up the rope to get the Colloseum goodies. I always have to quicksave on that beam, even then I fall off the rope at least half the time.

The spinning popsicle dog was cool, and the fragging was overall excellent. I wasn't aware that you could destroy the big building structures in Palace like that too.

As for the mention of Austria at the end, I'm sitting here watching The Sound of Music in HD on my new HDTV. I don't know if they filmed that on location but the scenery looks awesome in Hi Def!

I'm probably forgetting some stuff, I'll have to go back and watch the video again.:D

yeah frag, i think you are right! probably this low downloadspeed is an transatlantic-problem....this would be a logical explanation. you live in california....i'm right, am i not?

three years ago, i also tried the opera-browser for some months. but after that, i changed to mozilla/firefox and i never repented it. so i can't say nothing about opera, because i think too many things for this browser became changed/updated in the meantime.

i'm very happy that you still could download my vid.....thanks for that! :D

i believe "sound of music" is very popular in america and in japan too - but i think in europe or in austria, it is not so important. there are many tourists from america/japan who visit austria to make the "sound of music tour", whereat the tourists travel from one original-showplace to the next one. oh, and i absolutely believe you, that it looks awesome in hi def! next year, when germany will be the place for the soccer world cup, then i also will buy a new hdtv. do you know soccer? or are people in america only interested in american football, baseball, basketball?

three years ago, i also tried the opera-browser for some months. but after that, i changed to mozilla/firefox and i never repented it.In some ways Opera is better than Firefox, being able to easily cut and paste in forums via right clicks for instance, it's pop up blocker, and many custom skins.

It is, however, VERY finicky and sensitive to setting changes, especially ones like those that enable the Tile function. It also uses upwards 150MB of your RAM when you are using several Tiles simultaneously.

Lately they are having problems with their My Opera page, and Bad Gateway errors. Yesterday I thought the problems were gone, but they persisted off and on.

I hear Firefox's forum and support is better too. There don't appear to be many techs at Opera's forum, and like their browser, they are overly sensitive, rather than admitting there are problems that need to be addressed.
oh, i apologize for this little joke :o the tower automatically collapse when you enter this area. You know, I never noticed that. I've always set about heading straight for cover from those nasty lava rocks, so I didn't see that.
do you know soccer? or are people in america only interested in american football, baseball, basketball?I'm not exactly an officianado on it, but I did enjoy playing it in PE back in my school days. It was not too popular in the states back then, but it has steadily grown for years, and we finally have a fairly competetive World Cup team. There is a prodigy soccer player from Africa named Freddy Adu playing pro soccer on the D.C. United team here in the US. He is only 16, and many say will be the next Pele.

I don't know what the rules are for World Cup recruits, but if it is possible, I would not doubt he will play on our World Cup team some year soon.

We have a tenant in our apt building from Argentina that played soccer in his youth and knows a lot about it. He was offered a coaching job at a local university but turned it down.

Soccer is popular enough in the US now that the phrase "soccer mom" is a common one. Many schools offer it now, and many moms prefer it to letting their kids play football, which is more expensive and risky.

One thing I never understood about soccer is the way they don't allow regular substitutions or water breaks, which can and does cause many players to cramp up. They often run and run themselves into a state of dehydration and exhaustion.

You have to understand though Cyody, America is full of people that only respect our main stream sports like football, baseball, and basketball. Even though Lance Armstrong won the Tour De France an unprecidented 7 times in a row, we don't get more than 1 hour a week of TV highlights when the Tour is going.

Cycling is another sport that will likely never be as big here as it is in Europe, then again, some like to say, "never say never". :)

...a voice from the darkness.....

Ladies and Gentlemen - Cyody is back! :D And in a very impressive way, I must admit... ;)

I agree with Others about that video is very cool and it had to be presented. And Cyody even thought about deleting it, OMG! He is too modest (He says "Just for fun", hehe, whilst He shows many professional things too)... :)

I think, the video itself is the "best" funvideo recently - I mean "best" as the most entertaining and various (it uses up scenes from the whole game, not just from one or a very few levels), and it's been edited perfectly. Also, the quality is perfect (not dark, well visible, good music-quality, and so on). I can compare it to Varus' crazy-videos, so it's something from the highest level of SP-playing, I think. Everything is just well chosen in it: the scenes, the music, the cuts. It shows me how addicted is Cyody to the game and how much He likes it. Guys, the video really makes me smile as I'm watching it (and brings up good memories)... :)

If I have to mention scenes, well... I love the mid-air rocket-shots since I saw some nice ones in Kalme's "Abandoned Factory" video last year - now Cyody also showed a few ones in this video. The "two monks juggling" scene is also very cool, even if it's "fake", but looks awesome. The very high PK-Jump - I'm a big fan of PK-Jump, so I love it! The Alastor-scene: it remembers me to our common challenge what we completed in this year's April (5-starring all levels in a row with no cards on Trauma) - Cyody recorded some videos about "Tower" (what was a very hard task with our rules), and that scene is from one of those, when Alastor was "knocked" out from the level, but then he climbed back up... :D And there are even completely new things for me in the video: killing the Executioners immediately by using the PK's blades only (combo-fire) - well, I didn't know about that it's possible and I've never tried it so far (shame on me, but that's the truth)...

This video should be used up as a nice trailer for PainKiller - it truly offers the game! * thumbs up * ;) This "Just for fun" is already a Classic Video in my PK-Archive...

i believe the only condition is, he had to become an american citizenship.

unbelieveable!!! lance armstrong is an absolute superstar here in europe. but i think, america has so many sport top athlete in so many different sports, that it is very, very difficult to reach the status " sport top athlete" in usa!

I’m not detracting anything from any other of you guys, you all rule when it comes to playing this game, sharing your awesome tricks and making vids teaching others how to do things with class and efficiency, but for me personally, Cyody, that was the greatest Painkiller movie I’ve ever seen! Well I did mention personally, maybe I should have added “thus far” too? Hehe. :D

I haven't seen all the movies that have been made and posted here Artas1984 (I have dial up) but Cyody's movie is very unique to me, I saw a lot of stuff I’ve never seen before and I'm extremely impressed by it. I still reckon it’s the most entertaining I’ve seen “so far” ;) and I’m going to stand by that.

All the “main players” contribute great vids here, each is unique and they just keep getting better and better. Perhaps BloodBuster's movie is just as good as Cyody’s? Maybe it’s better? I don’t know as I haven't seen it yet. For me it's not a competition between them. If that would be the case then you’d need to cut bits and pieces from “everyone’s” contributions, Kalme‘s, Varus‘s, Frag Maniac‘s, Greybeard’s etc. etc. etc.

Now that would make for a great trailer eh? All the best scenes from everybody’s submissions... :)

I have to admit I haven’t seen any of yours yet but I see the many commendations you receive from the pros so they too must be pretty d-a-m-n impressive.

How about sharing that link to BB’s movie Artas1984?

I’ll get technical for a sec, then I’ll just share what impresses me about your game play fellas. :)

I like the way you put your clips together Cyody. Content is everything! Action sequence-wise it’s top notch entertainment. I’m put in an awkward position having to compare your movies against one other (thanks Artas1984) as I respect and admire you both for your analytical/gaming skills and friendliness expressed toward me in these forums. Both vids are fun to watch, and don’t sell yourself too short BloodBuster, you’re an aspiring story teller. You've got some good, positive ideas, and one or two negatives. It’s essential to use only the best, most attention-grabbing footage. There were a few times when things slowed down a little, you can easily get around that by either editing (cutting) that particular scene or adding extra content. E.g. waiting for the beast on the drawbridge, while that is fun to watch, “waiting for it”, interrupts the flow, IMO, I hope you can see that as constructive criticism and feedback. ;) :)

Editing footage is learnt over time, it takes plenty of practice, where to cut, what to show, what not to show, adding special effects, transitions etc. Depending on what “style” of movie you’re going for, really determines the kinds of transitions you should use, fast cuts, quick transitions; arty and sophisticated calls for smoother blending, an educational documentary, straight cuts.

Gettin’ music to go perfectly with sequences is an art in itself, it takes patience and many attempts, a great effect is repeating a moment of a scene as a beat repeats, say between 1 to 6 times, then continuing from there. Lucky for people that nowadays they don’t need Avid Xpress or Adobe Premiere to produce one h3ll of a good flick, today (gamers especially) make terrific vids using Microsoft’s Windows Movie Maker. I liked both of these movies for independent reasons and qualities, but to counter you Artas1984, in my opinion, Cyody’s has more unique content, and is “made” better. And please don’t take that the wrong way BloodBuster, see below.

CONTENT

I didn’t get into specifics with my compliments Cyody so I will. The PK’s one of my favourite weapons and I too typically use the Killer in short fast blasts (as you demonstrate later). I do cling it to walls and use the beam often but for a reason unbeknownst to me, I’ve never really done it in the narrow walkways of the Palace, which makes perfect sense to do so (tight doorway, limit number of attacks) resourceful. I myself have never frozen a leaping Sado-commando or seen a frozen spinning beast before, nice. Might be a fair few “never’s” coming along here. Beautiful shot on the Templar Knight with the airborne Pain, great timing. Absolutely LOVE that technique of getting the fountains lava rocks to land on the enemy. I play around dodging those things or just shooting them for target practice all the time, but I “never” thought of using them in my favour, outstanding! Action’s non-stop, you choose exciting footage. PK jump at the abandoned factory (show-off) hehe, I still can’t do those well. Your juggling technique’s superb, obviously inherited through the genes, you must have bloodlines connecting to Cirque du Soleil. :D What a truly spectacular example of the Electrodriver’s special attack (steps in Babel) first class Cyody, total professionalism, and how beautiful are those splatters of blood as they just keep appearing and appearing, that shot really stands out for me. Yeah the executioners, WOW! I always reach for the stakegun whenever I face one, but yet again your use of the PK motivates me with wonderful new ideas. I’ve killed Sado-commando’s in a multitude of fashions, many giving spectacular results, but picking ‘em out o’ the sky with the rocket launcher is magic to watch, well their limbs flying off their torso is, hehe. Didn’t know you could demolish the tower, saw it collapse plenty of times but I didn’t know we had control over it. Delightful imagery of the insides of the executioner’s belly, biology101. The Colosseum jumps are more proof of my circus comment, you’re a true acrobat, C. Pulling the Maso-commando toward you with the Killer then chopping him up with the Pain is poetry in motion, that’s what the PK is all about. Double monk juggling technique... yeah all good and well, but can you juggle three monks? Hehe. Nice climbing technique with the blades (factory) BTW you know you taught that to me (Incan God totem, Pyramid, Hills, thanks) and the gore... ah yes the blood, the guts and the glory of mutilating the enemy (Babel MASSACRE) so very PG rated, no? Hehe, still that’s what we like to see in this game, maimed, disfigured corpses. Greetings from Austria... I think people will have new respect for Austro-Hungarian history. But definitely for one distinct Austrian Warrior. A joy to watch Cyody. We have dissimilar tastes in music, but your choice still went well with your sequences.

BB (the 007 of the DC/PK forums) very polished James Bond intro. :) That window’s a good vantage point for massacring groups of monks, can’t wait to try it with the Electrodriver’s special attack. I’m Powermad’s No. 2 admirer (Kalme being No. 1) but embarrassingly I haven’t shrunken the enemy before, guess that bumps me way down the list. It’s always so very entertaining watching AI defeat itself, the beast trick on the castle drawbridge is cool, if a little lengthy. Groovy tunes BTW BB, I can dig it. Catacombs, WTF! Was that a planned move or what? I ain’t seen anything ever like it! And I’ll be running face-first toward the blast from now on. Very cheeky of you riding bareback in the tank rodeo, LOL! That’s asking for pain :D but gutsy all the same. LOVE the way you decorated in the Cemetery, close your eyes kiddies this ain’t for you. That inside the Tomb sequence resembles a bloody slaughterhouse, awesome. Ingenious keeping the body of the Cathedral boss around. City on Water, mate you clocked that 2nd H3ll Angel (guy who flew off the balcony, WHOOSKHA!) that was great, hehe. I haven’t seen the fountain jump before but I read it could be done. I wonder how the H3ll biker’s Molotov cocktails react on the water? I especially liked that you kept a game over in there (Maso-commando, Prison) it’s enjoyable to see how quickly and easily you can die in this game. That’s a smart contrast to only showing victories and conquests, that was well done. Hehe, you sure aggravated that dark-ninja, he was running as fast as he could but he was gettin’ nowhere, lol. You should add his ranting, that’s a top cartoon-like comedy moment. Electrodriving ’em all to death (rooftop) masterfully accomplished (another fav weapon o’ mine). Beautifully captured moment of the games physics, Prison, gas cylinder smashing into the windows, nice take. Something some viewers may not be able to appreciate but I do very much. Clever, unique ending. The boosted jump, the Devil monk comin’ ta’ getchya’, and then the screen goes red from the poisonous smoke, I really love that ending a lot BloodBuster.

Both these vids exceeded my expectations because I learnt so many new things from them, thank you guys.

LOL! I really did not want this to become a comparison between our separate movies, I just provided the link because you asked for it - but no problem on my account! Thanks for your comments - it is nice that you have taken the time to comment on both the videos. And nice comments they are!

Overall, Cyody's videos are definitely better than mine. If you have a look at the videos that Cyody has posted on Dark's Corner and here you will see some truly amazing clips. Cyody's videos show a degree of skillful gameplay that I simply do not possess. The majority of mine consist of charging in and running around blasting away at anything that moves - showing off the game's physics and its awesome visceral components. Cyody's videos are actually useful, whereas the majority of mine are literally 'Just For Fun' and should be taken as such.

I really enjoy making these vids, it is something that cannot be done with the majority of other games because the gameplay is sooooo linear and hardly varies at all. Painkiller allows you to explore all the ledges, balconies, rooftops; to attack monsters from different vantage points - for example from the top of a tank :)

This thread is about Cyody's Fun video - and it is a Great Video!

Thanks for being cool about the advice BB :) sometimes when I try to offer advice outside the spectrum of the topic, people get defensive.

You're right about the quality of vids produced here, if someone's havin’ trouble in any area of this game they can be sure to find "more than one" movie to help them through it. The PK community’s lucky for the core group of director‘s/producer‘s they have here. :D

I fancy the good wholesome entertainment too, watching the chaos of game play or as we like to call it in the hit-biz, professional assassination. ;)

BTW I'm sure you would have noticed but I meant the H3ll Biker, not Maso-commando in the old prison. :o

I always like to read any comments about my vids - and you are right about the Beast at the front gate to Castle - When I included it I thought it was overly long, but then again I thought, well what the ****.. As for the Catacombs 'blast' - that was purely random. I was astonished when it happened.

I started doing the 'fun' vids because 99% simply showed how to get the secret from X etc, there were no vids that showed how much fun the game could be. Frag Maniac had started doing his 'No scratch' series which are truly amazing because they show some very skillful gameplay and sharp-shooting, and I thought - how about some fun... (because I am not that good a player and could not do those sorts of videos LOL!)

So, you are right - PK must have one of the largest number of Single Player gameplay videos of any game ever.

But, once again - Cyody does a very job and it is always worth looking at his videos.
