No, I'm not being sarcastic. I'm not trying to be funny. I'm not doing crack, weed, pot, smack, crystal meth, (You get the point). I just think that there has been a lot of negativity lately (For just cause, mind you. I'm not criticizing anyone for speaking negatively when one is right to do so) and I thought I'd start a more positive thread just for a change of pace.
While it is lacking in every area, and there are a lot of bugs that can stop the game (Just happened to me recently) I still like what they managed to put in it.
The first thing I like: It has a lot of skill-based action. This is different than your usual point-and-click affair, which can get rather boring after a shorter time. In this game you can challenge yourself in different ways based on the action aspect of this game. Here's some suggestions:
-Don't like auto-aiming arrows? Turn off the aiming cone.
-Limit yourself to using smaller or less damaging weapons.
-Crank up the spawning for some extra challenge.
What's great about this game is it sometimes inspires a feeling of being overwhelmed. Granted, some people don't like this feeling, but in a game environment it's almost an amazing feeling when you get overrun by a horde of 30 enemies and all you can do is hack and slash at the one nearest to you to survive.
Another thing I like is the skill system. I like the fact that if you are patient and careful enough to save up the points then you can just continue progressing in a certain skill until your heart's content. I've had mages that were so powerful that they could only be fathomed about as being the "big bad guy" in most other games. This difference here is that in this game it's fun because if given enough numbers the enemies can STILL overwhelm you almost regardless of how powerful you become.
While the multiplayer is buggy and unplayable on the internet I still got a lot of it done through LAN, and it was fun. I mean, I only played this game at first because of that aspect. The funny thing is that this game has something that even epic titles such as Elderscrolls doesn't have: multiplay. If Elderscrolls had decent, functional multiplayer would I drop this game in a heartbeat? Yes. Does Elderscrolls have multiplayer? No, and that's the point. For the time being this game has something that Elderscrolls doesn't.
There you have a few of the things I like about this game even in the sad state it is in. I ask that everyone post something they like about the game for a change and actually be somewhat serious about it. At least 'try' to stay on topic: don't post things "I like this game because it felt great to delete it off my hard drive." We've all heard this sort of thing many times before and it, quite frankly, isn't funny.
