Brought to you by BungBo, Draxis, GeorgeKeith, and InDoMiNaE.
And also MKolter and Oink for the help and inspiration they provided!
It is now 99.6% English thanks mostly to BungBo for all his
hard work staring at HEX and translating German!

This is the Final Version of the mod. "Version 1.4 Final"

And remember that this is unofficial, which means that Dreamcatcher,
Heuristic Park or Typhoon Games has nothing to do with this modification.
Also if this add-on harms your computer etc. we are not responsible.
(Although I see no way it can, It mostly renames Dungeon Lords sound
files and adds a couple of new translated files.)

Required game version: Dungeon Lords German 1.4.

To install:

It's best to start with a fresh install of Dungeon Lords then:

1) *Download and install Dungeon Lords English Patches to make yours Version 1.3:
- 1.0 to 1.1 http://dungeonlordsgame.com/downloa...-1.1_update.exe
- 1.1 to 1.3 http://dungeonlordsgame.com/downloa...1.3%20patch.exe
*Note: If your game is Version 1.3 out-of-the-box then goto 2.

2) Download and Install the Dungeon Lords German 1.3 to 1.4 Patch:

3) Install this mod which you have obviously downloaded.

** THIS WILL UPDATE ANY PREVIOUS INSTALL OF THIS MOD TO THE CURRENT FINAL 1.4 **

Install them in that order and it you should be playing DL 1.4 in minutes.
If you were playing DL Version 1.3, then you will have to start a new game to see the changes.

Players using ninjutsu can change with "Q" between fists and ranged weapons

You only can leave the shadow ruins AFTER getting the staff of holyness

If accessing the character-menus or other sub-menus, no more monsters spawn

In camp-modus, every hour will be checked if monsters spawn

The speed for removing traps on boxes is now different. Now not only is the trap skill important, but also the level of the trap.

You can change with "F" between magic and melee mode

WOW! You mean they crammed all these fixes into a 51 Meg update patch over a 3 or 4 month period? I'm just astounded at their efficiency. This project from HP and DC is the model for all future RPG projects. It is just too awesome for words.

I still see LOTS of german in the game ,but hey ,still very nice and very embarrasing for Dreamcatcher :D

But I did not have any problems with the game ,I was just curious.

Actually, he inadvertently cut off a bunch of the change-list when copy and pasting. The full list of changes is the same one that's been published for quite some time. However, as seems to be HP's M.O., there are also serveral changes/fixes in addition to what's in the list.

Well, I am very sorry , nothing but positive about the effords but I see a lot of german and even more bad english and missing letters.No offense.
One example is the character statistics.

Actually the missing letters are not mistakes. When making the changes from German to English, I had to take into account the differences in word lengths because I could not add or delete spaces in the hex editor because all the words would get shifted in the game and nothing would make sense. This was covered in various posts in the "Here's Something To Do" thread. You can read through it for more information if you'd like to get up to speed. But, for example, the German word for Strength is only 6 letters long (don't remember the actual word right now) therefore in order not to screw up the game I had to shorten Strength to Streng. I figured most people would prefer this approach rather than having to read German. So, yes, there are some strange things, but I haven't seen much, if any, German in the game so far. I've only made it to Arindale. Others have played further into the game and reported that everything is looking good. Post where you have seen German in the game, or anything else that seems strange to you and I will check it out. Please be as detailed as possible. Also, as I posted before, are you using the latest version of the mod or an earlier version? You didn't mention that. That would make a big difference also. I hope this helps clarify things.

Using the beta 1.4 mod, I experienced a few isolated incidences of German words, but very few at that. Now with the final mod, I'm well into the game and no unusual wording.

Thanks George. It's not about perfection. It's always been about... Here's Something To Do. And, most likely, the German you ran into were words that even the web translator couldn't help me with. For example, the German word, geshoss, was not even recognizable by the translation website I used when all else failed. So any German anybody runs into is only because I couldn't find a translation for it, or, I figured, why spend all that extra time trying to make everything perfect when I knew that people just want to play the game. I didn't expect to get a critique from someone in the Netherlands about my translating work, but, hey, I put myself out there. And now, the French want our help! George, I think we have to rename our team... The Mod Squad! But I think you'd agree, my command of the English language is fairly decent. So, that's all I have to say about that. Check out the French 1.4 patch? thread. Thanks again! :D

Also, I must mention, that what I know about actually getting the words to fit the spaces and to get the alignment right with words that denote an attribute "plus or minus" took some serious trial and error work on my part. It's not like just typing out stuff... It took a lot of perserverance and thinking to get this mod to where it is. I could never have done the batch file Draxis came up with, I could never have done the installer Indominae created, I could never, ever, ever, played this game as many times as you have George, but our combined effort has many, many people at least checking out and/or actually playing this version of the game. And have you noticed that there is a lot less flaming going on than just a week ago? We've done good work. Thanks again to the Mod Squad!

First ,I'm NOT flaming! So If someone thinks that is my intention ...wake up.Years ago I changed games in my favor in HEX (got rid of passwords and changing characters HP).But in that time that was much easier as now.

I did not say that this patch must be flawless.
I patched exactly as it should be mentioned in a earlier topic ,and used the final patch.
Started a new game .
I am not sure if I have the time today to play ,but I will try to make some shots.

But I said it earlier,before this patch I never experienced bugs, crashes or whatever ,I did enjoy this game very much anyway.

i think you put already more effort into this than could be hoped for from a fan project. So i don't want to say you should but if you want to kill the last 0.2% german in the game i (or other germans on this thread) can help you translate the words you did not find in the dictionary.

For example the word 'Geschoss' translates to something like 'projectile' or 'missile'. This can be an arrow, bullet, throwing knife or any other 'thing' used for ranged attacks.

By the way - i have been playing german localizations of other games that were done by the publisher and were far worse than this fan project. Very good work folks!

I think that the patch is just great as it is. The shortened words are very much understandable and the little German left in the game I think does not matter. Personally I wouldn't waste a lot of time trying to translate that little bit, but that's up to you.

Enjoy the fruit of your labor rather trying to correct nitpicky details. Theoretically the official English patch should be out relatively soon especially if they intend on meeting the projected release date of the Collector's Edition.

I didn't say you were flaming. I was referring to a few threads on this forum where some people were getting very upset over various issues, but mostly about not having the 1.4 patch. Most people that have been reading and posting on this site know what I mean. I'm sorry you misunderstood. I in no way was accusing you of flaming. I appreciate your input about the mod. I am sincerely interested in finding out what mistakes you have discovered in the mod, and when you have a chance, please post your information and I will check it out. I can't promise that changes will be made because I don't want to have to ask Indominae to redo his installer just for a few edits, but if there is enough mistakes or typos that would warrant such an effort, I will seriously consider asking him to update the mod. But, as for now, I am busy attempting to help the French get the German 1.4 patch working for them. DC has said absolutely nothing about ever getting them updated to version 1.4 and they must be feeling really left out. I hope this clears things up. Good luck in the New Year and please post what you find. Or, better yet, start a new thread because this doesn't have anything to do with Draxis' Read Me topic.

I checked my gd6string again and the word they have is 'Geshoss'. When I used the web translator it did suggest 'Geschoss' like you've mentioned. I figured that it might be a typo by the developers, but couldn't be sure it wasn't German slang for something else. The whole entry was 'Geshoss Ladung' which I know 'Ladung' could be 'Charge' in English, so 'Missile Charge' makes sense. But I've never been far enough into the game to verify whether it should be 'Missile Charge' or 'Arrow Charge' or even 'Bullet Charge' so I decided to hold off and wait for some input from someone who actually saw the entry. The way I left it was 'Geshoss Charge'. So if anybody runs into 'Geshoss Charge' let me know what it's referring to so I can make the change and put it in the correct context. Though that wouldn't warrant a whole new update to the mod, but at least it would be right in my game! :)

Here's something I could use translated. It's in the Multi-Player menus.

CHARAKTER LADEN, DER SICH NICHT IN EINEM MULTIPLAYERSPIELSTAND BEFINDET. BEIM STARTEN EINES NEUEN SPIELS, BEIM LADEEN EINES NEUEN SC ODER BEIM IMPORTIEREN EINES SC AUS EINEM ANDEREM SPIEL WERDEN ALLE INFORMATIONEN AUSSER KLASSEN UND GILDEN QUESTS ZURÜCKGESETZT. UM MIT EINEM CHARKTER AUS EINEM MULTIPLAYER-SPIELSTAND WEITERZUSPIELEN MAKIEREN SIE DEN SC, WELCHER IN DER RECHTEN SPALTE ERSCHEINT NACHDEM DAS SPIEL VOM HOST GELADEN WURDE.

I didn't bother with this because it's whole sentences and is not in the English version and I don't think it matters much to the Multi-Player people because they never said anything about it. But I would sure like to have the translation if you want to do it.

Wow! Very cool. Thank you very much though I must say I prefer, " Demonic Grasshoppers" after all, it is , much more fun! :D I really appreciate this help. I really want this to be... as perfect as it can get. One doesn't spend the time and effort I and others have put into this without wanting to make a piece of Art. I am very surprised to realize that some of the Angels in this project are German speakers! Thanks so much to Oink, DoofDilla, CKomet and the others that have come out to support this little project! I've learned a lot and am making new friends. Thanks! Someday I hope to get to Germany and France and get to just, well, enjoy.

But I saw german pressing the "Z" button in the game.

DoofDilla, thanks! Very good work. I know what you mean about your eyes needing a rest. :) I also found the Demo stuff rather funny. I will make those changes and wait for you and any others to report back. We could always just post a link for the new gd6string file and let people download it if they want it without bothering Indominae to update the installer. All anyone would have to do is download the latest gd6string file and copy it into their DL folder and it will just copy over the old one. If you PM me your email address, I'll send you a copy of the newest gd6string when it is finished or even if you just want to check out the progress.

i looked through it once more and didn´t find any german words left. Good work dude! Just a little type left at '5a46h' - "TEH" instead of "THE"

maybe someone else could check it once more, just to make sure.

i looked through it once more and didn´t find any german words left. Good work dude! Just a little type left at '5a46h' - "TEH" instead of "THE"

DoofDilla, check your email, I've sent you the gd6stringFIN3.zip with the TEH correction and I also remembered that I hadn't done anything about 'Geshoss' (Geschoss) so decided to make it Missile Charge because it fits the space perfectly. Thanks again for all the help! :)
