In the sound options for painkiller, you can choose your 3d sound provider there. But I'm not sure which one I shall use. I have an creative audigy 2 zs.
Anybody knows?

Hi, i have the same soundcard but i never realized any changes in quallity or qunatity by changing the provider.
So for me its still the default: Miles Fast 2D Positional Audio and i just disabled EAX.

Thx :)

Why do you not use the EAX effects?

EDIT: do you also have a 5.1 speaker setup?

EAX sounds cool but i play the game most in MP and have to hear the playerrespawning, so im less for effects and more for pure sound.
About the 5.1 setup i dont know, because im using a stereorecorder and headphones. I think its 7.1 or 5.1 i dont know. The Soundsetting is default: 2Speaker.

ok...but for me who uses a 5.1 speaker setup, "Miles Fast 2D Positional Audio" is still recommended? (your opinion)

U should play abit arround with the settings, maybe U hear a difference. Im fine with the default settings but i never tested it to much. U maybe find something cool.

I have a 5.1 sound system. Be sure 5.1 is selected in Windows Control Panel/Sound and Audio Options PLUS the Creative console or whatever it's called. Get the latest drivers from Creative (I use the autoupdate on their site, but it will only work with IE, forget using Firefox). Set PK to EAX 3.0. For headphone use I suspect Miles is the best bet.

Miles is there basically as a 'minimum needed' provider (on-board sound,
slower/smaller systems, etc.). With EAX enabled, you'll get the ambient sounds (echos in the Cathedral, for example). The Dolby setting is another option, especially with some form of surround sound - I prefer it to the 5.1 setting.
