Sup guys! ill just cut straight to the point. I bought the Gold edition of Painkiller. The problem right off the bat was after installation, when i tried to play the game wouldent start up. I mean, i would put in the right disk, CD-Key and it would show up on my windows task manager. But it just wouldent start up. And when i tried to just start the application again an error would come up and say that the application had already started. Even after installing all of the updates the porblem persisits. I SERIOUSLY dont want to have to return this game. but i cant think of anything else to do.

Hopefully Someone has the answer. And thanks in advanced.

Please post some specifications for your machine:
CPU (Intel/AMD, Model & speed)
Graphic card (and driver version used)
memory installed (amount in Mb)

Maybe the problem is your impatience, try to wait.
If the game hasnīt launched in two minutes, this is a technical problem.

ok heres my specs

Processor: AMD Athlon 64 processor 3400+, mmx, 3Dnow, ~2.4 ghz
Memory: 1024 mb ram
With a Radeon 9550 graphics card.

Your specs seem fine (I was able to run Painkiller using a nVidia MX440). It many be possible that your installation went a bit squirrelly. Uninstall and reinstall and see if that helps. If not, try backing your overclock back down... some software hates to be overclocked (eg. HL2).

I think I know what this is.
Deactivate all protections, like firewalls and antivirus programs and try to run the game.

No sorry its Norton. The Security System of SATAN!

But here is a new oddity. the game slows down during battles. but its not like the laggy choppy framerate bullcrap in games like quake 4. Its slow, but still fluid like a max pain bullettime deal. Can it be solved by simply lowering the grapgic settings or what?

Very true, Norton Virus is what I call that crap.

and yeah try turning off some graphic options.

Top diagnosis there Bjossi... I hadn't thought of that - my machine run Norton Internet Security 2005 but mine is set to prompts when a new program requests outside access.

I agree too. I use AntiVir.

Painkiller is the only game as far as I know that instead of losing frames (lag), it slows the framerate down. (slow-motion)

What are your system specs? It matters what you turn off based on what hardware your system has.

Thanks guys! I Lowered the Settings alittle in the game. Basicaly just turning the resolution down a notch it runs Perfectly.

Now if you all excuse me, i have a Necrogiant to topple.........

Why do I sense that you donīt want to tell your specs? ;)
But Iīm glad everything is working. If you tell me your specs, it may be possible to keep the resolution at high numbers. There are settings that eat up resources without obvious changes in graphics.

changes in graphics.
Which sound provider, for example.

Audio doesnīt affect graphics at all, but it can affect performance, but not by noticable numbers unless you have a good ol' Adlib. :p
But I never saw too much difference with Dynamic Lighting set at off or full. And it puts heavy amount of work for the FX/Radeon series of graphics card anyways.
