game crashes

Just got my hands on this game after 2 years of waiting to find it here in Malta. This is the problem. Everytime i start the game it loads and gets 20 or so seconds into the game then crashes. I have the Gold Edition if that means anything to anyone and I am using it on a GForce 440MX card with all updates installed for card...I have necer had this problem with anyother game that requires higher graphics memory or such, however this crash restarts my whole system.

Any info would be greatly apprecieted as I am a very unhappy chappie at not getting to sink no ships.

Sorry but I am not a child who likes to spam forums. I really need as much info on this subject as i can get so that I can solve this annoying problem
