I am trying to play Booh because I never played it yet, although Ive had it since day 1. My computer is better than the old one I used to play on.
Ive got a pentium 3.4 e prescott , 2 gigs of ram and a 6800 GT
SO I reinstalled Painkiller and Booh. Ive tried fresh installs, ive tried all the patches, even just painkiller by itself . Anyways it runs way too fast as if its on speed and rocket fuel. Everything runs too fast , monsters spawn too fast, guns shoot too fast, I move too fast. The whole thing is insane and making it unplayable. anyone know why"?

Just search the forum for "dualcore".
This is simply a technical issue btw.

I dont have a dual core CPU. I do have hyperthreading but I had it when I used to play Painkiller without a problem too. Ill try that though. thanks.

Dualcore is "AMD" and hyperthreading is "Intel". Both is the same.
Painkiller doesnt support dualcore or hyperthreading.

oh I turned off HT and that sure did fix it. Now it makes me wonder if the HT was causing my multiplayer to suck all along. The herky jerky multiplayer I always complained about LOL maybe ill try playing again now to see!

That makes me wondering...I know many gamers with HT, me too, but never heard about this problem. Always known as an AMD bug so far. But maybe it was/is something wrong with your HT installation. And AMD dualcore and the Intel HT isn't the same, never nearly.

Wellcome home Cr0c0dile.

Hyperthreading is a second logical core as opposed to dual-core which has two physical cores on a single dye (with supporting cache). Dual-core Intels will show 4 cores under system devices - 2 x physical & 2 x logical entries.
I've never heard of this problem on an Intel based system - I had suffered from the dual-core AMD choppy/fast problem until I got my drivers sorted out. Are you sure you're not getting this affect from Fleabay/Kalme's Powermad "Speed Up World" hack?

I dont have fleabays hack.
It was definitely the hyperthreading causing the game to run messed up in all version of Painkiller.
I didnt realise it before on my 2.4ghz@3.0 ghz ht cpu as it wasnt running that fast but it was running herky jerky.
With a 3.4 ghz cpu @ 3.6 ghz it made everything hyperspeed.
Now I can actually do all those moves in multiplayer the pros would do that baffled me. I could never understand how anyone could learn to control painkiller movememnt like that since it was always slowing and speeding up constantly for me before . LOL kinda sad I played for like a year like that not knowing why.
Thanks Petja good to see ya

The 2,4 GHz P4 isnt a HT CPU. In the good old days i never saw U moving like Ur speedhacking. I would have noticed that for sure. Anybody would and still can.
Sometimes these dualcore player got 0-6 Ping like they are admins. But after they fixed it, they got normal ping like everyone.
I saw U playing last night with GUI/GOREGOD and Chaosstick. And i think Tim12345 (?) called WMW or something like that.
GG. Well played.

oh yeh my old processor is in my second pc now ceertainly is HT. Its the 2.4c which was a famous little processer easily overclocakable to over 3 ghz. =D
I know it's afairly old thread but I've just bough Painkiller as I remember playing a demo over a year ago and enyoing it.
Anyway, it's just way way way too fast to play. I don't have dual core or HT - I have AMD FX-55, 2 gb ram, ati 1800xt - nothing over the top - no o/c or anything like that.
Any ideas?

The FX-55 is not dual core and if it would be you shouldn't disable your second core !
Just install AMD's latest dual core drivers. http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_871_13118,00.html
I'm running Painkiller on an 4800X2 without any problems.. (and boy does it look sweet on my new X1900XT256MB :D , even three years after release..!!)
