Come on, mods, admins, etc. Spill the beans on some development. Loved the first game, repeated all the 5 star challenges a second time. I am ready for more. Have actually been ready for more for a couple of years!! There have been lot of other great games, but they have not been up to the challenge of painkiller. So we want more! FEED US!! :)
Ye! I(we) want Pk2 right now!!! Give it to us!!! :)

I just recently went through the single player (base + expansion) and forgot how much fun the game is and how great it looks (and runs).
I'm not opposed to PK2. In fact, the letdown that was Serious Sam 2 should demand PK2 be in the works!

My fear is that the same forces that made Croteam wreck SS2 will do the same to a PK2. Not to bash PCF or anything, but sometimes the independent developer simply has no choice in the matter. On the one hand I would love a PK2, on the other I just wish some of my favorite games had simply died with dignity rather than be warped into travesties of their original glory.

eh, what really is wrong with ssam2? Everybody moans about the DM, but overall I thought the single player was mostly in character with the original. Ok, they did take a lot of wacky risks and weird levels, but I thought those were more in keeping with the overall flow of the game as compared to the silly jump pads, gravity walls, etc that were in the originals.....
BUT....
I want my PK2!!!!

For me, SS2 just wasn't up to par with the First or Second encounters.
While they made some great graphical advancements, other things that were in 1st/2nd encounters got downgraded (shadows and reflections that I can remember). The levels seemed more cramped too as they sorta did a PK thing by sectioning the entire level off into smaller sections as you went through it, so you saw less of the huge open sprawling areas the 1st/2nd encounters offered.
Aside from that, yea I liked SS2. But to be honest, I've played through the 1st/2nd Encounters on PC and Xbox numerous times. SS2 I've played through once and haven't touched it since.
And don't get me started on co-op. I have yet to play through an entire map co-op on SS2. Before the patches it was the falling through the floor/death bug. After the patch, every server I tried was either horribly laggy, or the level was just stuck and wouldn't open the next door/checkpoint.

I hope with a PK 2 there is some improvement.

I loved SS2. As a matter of fact, I played SS2 first, loved it. Then I decided to get SS1 + Second encounter. I loved them all. I think SS2 is better because of humor and better cut scenes.

I have to agree with Vistrel. I've always thought that the original serious sam was a little too big, meaning that you had to run miles to get to the next area or hidden powerup, and the areas themselves had to be sparsely decorated and left feeling somewhat barren.
The painkiller-style arena-based combat in SS2 might not be to everyone's taste, but I think it makes the action much more intense and concentrated, and I also think the cutscenes and secret areas are much funnier. (Bunny sausages, gay monster weddings, ninja chickens?)
There are just two problems I have with SS2:
1. The same enemies are used over and over again. They could have at least re-skinned them to suit each level, like Painkiller.
2. The music is TERRIBLE! Most of the time it sounds like the sort of thing you would hear at a circus, and the game repeats it over and over and over and over... I'm getting a headache just thinking about it!
I'm not sure how you can improve on a game as polished and hilariously sadistic as Painkiller, but I'm sure PCF will find a way.
Has anyone seen Pixelux's new OMM system? It allows 3D objects to be given the properties of real life materials, meaning wood splinters, plastic melts, pottery smashes etc. It looks absolutely amazing! The only problem is, George Lucas currently has the rights to it, so it won't become available until 2008. Ah well, maybe something for Painkiller 3?
