I've only just recently (in the last month) played Painkiller, but since then I've noticed that most of the community has dwindled away (sadly; it really doesn't seem like it lasted all that long). However, there are people that still play this wonderful game; and I'm sure there are many people waiting for a sequel. However, I've also noticed that those people seem to be split into two categories: singleplayer lovers and multiplayer lovers. So...this poll is just as the title says...

Which do you think is better: Painkiller singleplayer or Painkiller multiplayer?

(note: Painkiller singleplayer includes both the original and Battle out of Hell.)

...a voice from the darkness.....

Welcome to the Forums! :)

Well, the question is quite useless in this form. Instead of "better", we should use "favourite" or "prefer more", I mean which is that someone likes more..SP or MP...? But that's subjective of course and there's not "better" anyway. I myself don't vote, because of this. Anyway I play and love both, though I always used to say that I still like SP more. Why? Because I hate competiting with people (but from another aspect I need that, now that's odd) and SP has only the pure feeling (in MP I turn off everything) with no stress at all (I don't need to beat anyone), especially no stress due to the technicial issues (ping, lag, HW, etc.)... When I'm totally fed up with all the bad things in MP, then I relax with the SP... :)

But I don't say SP is "better" or MP is "better". You can't compare the two like this, they are too different things...

Any yes, I totally agree with You anyway: the Community is splitted. There are only a very few players who play both SP+MP. Most people ONLY play SP or MP. Maybe the only MP players say that they are not interested in any singleplayer game and they want to master themselves in the MP and therefore they have no time to waste with SP..or they played SP a long time ago a few times and that was enough... And maybe the only SP players say that they don't want to compete with others, they think that they would be too weak in MP, and so on...

voted singleplayer as it's the most solid aspect of the game, highly addictive, great visuals, level design etc etc.

Not to say the MP maps don't have great visuals or great level design (they do, in fact), it's just the MP was never really a solid component.

I have to agree with SYS. I'm an SP player and choose games for that element. Just rushing around killing things whether death- or bot- match doesn't do it for me. However, I can appreciate MP gaming and enjoyed watching some of the CPL matches last year. What I like in PK is getting the secrets, experimenting with the tarot cards, exploring the environment, challenging the dfficulty level etc. So, no vote from me

Ahhh, you should have been here in the old days when PK was young ... but I can say rubbish like this because I'm old :D . Seriously, if you haven't found it already, have a look at RJ19's site http://personal.inet.fi/cool/allaboutpainkiller/. RJ has created an excellent PK site linking to a lot of the stuff contributed by forum members over the years.

I hope you have great fun with the game and keep posting

Cheers

I've always been a sp player - I would love to play more co-op.

I like the challenge of completing the mission and exploring the areas. Being able to know I did it. I like co-op to be able to have that element of working together to complete the missions, find the secrets and just having fun.

I play the death-match but quickly get bored and start looking for what kind of trouble I can get into. When I play against my godsons they never know where I will pop-up and scare the ammo out of them.

I will always be into single player for the the challenge. I do wish the developers would look into the co-op part of gaming more. It had a whole new challenge to the game.
