Hello: as I said before I love SP both 1 & 2.
most recently in mid July I played as Israel in an effort to recreate the Israel-Hezbollah fighting.
this is how I did it
1. I changed the form of government to a theocracy to initiate my reforms without worrying about being ousted
2. I raised the taxes to 100% and the interest rate down to 0.0%
this generated the moolah needed to get out of debt.
3. I also cut the propaganda down to 0 and every thing else to the red/green
line in the budget except for research
4. once I had a $25 billion kitty, every 4 years of my benevolent dictatorship
I moved the meters over to the left as my reserve allowed.
5. after 60 years of granting goodies a la a political Boss I changed the system back to a multiparty democracy(Likud) and was in like flynn forever
after getting a reserve of 1.25 trillion by 2148(200th year of Israeli independence)
I started out with a 500k infantry, 30k land including 15k tanks(Merkavas)
5k air all trained to level 2
I wanted to attack Hizbollah by 2167 but I wasn't finished until 2171
I also developed 300 nuclear warheads to go with the Jericho 2 & 3 that the Israelis are reputed to have to spank the Iranians but found out it didn't work
even though I made mincemeat out of the Syrians & made hash of the Lebanese I was miffed that I couldn't design any bombers, aircraft carriers nor the nukes I needed to send them all to their 72 virgins.
In SP 1 I was able to design the biggest baddest weapons on the planet
to use to refight the Mexican War & the Falkland Island war as Argentina back in 1983(Gral. Galtieri won and Maggie Thatcher lost this one people! but the world was reduced to "total chaos & mass confusion" to quote the lyrics of a popular rap song as any state that had nukes were using them every few minutes
why can't I do it in SP2?
I have a 2001 model HP Pavilion 7965 with 512k memory,
a Liteon SOHW 832 optical drive which is the main one I use for this game
and Direct X 9.0c and the Hard drive is in better shape than me because I run all the defrags & scan disks every month
so what gives.
