CE Version Used Char Editor

Hmmm!! I have a bit of a dillema I believe!

I'am currently using CEv1.5, and I have been to Aryndale, to Ulm and back and finished quite a few quests. As well as knocking out 6+ dragons so far. As well as the trial of the elders and so forth.. So if you know what I'am talking about I should have some wracked up levels. Well I'am level 8 !! I could of swore I was level 10 a week ago or so.

Just recently and awhile ago I used this exact save game editor to help me with Identify and to give me a shield that I accidently blew up. Yes cheating, but nothing extreme. Can't stand the Identify feature normally and the shield blowing up was just a mistake and carelessness.

Anyhow I used this program: DLGameEditor V1_5beta

It's very very handy at doing anything you would need. Adding items, skills, stats, ect..

Now I have no idea if using this editor may have caused this, but I should definately be higher than level 8 !! I have an Elf Adept in Fargrove still just starting out and he's level 7!

Would anyone have any ideas?? A common occurence maybe?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

P.S. One more question, which made me really get into wondering what's going on. I seem to be maxed on my speed #'s with objects. If I train Agility the left side Speed will go up, but I currently have 134 on the left and 282 on the right. i have a Talisman of Night I believe it's called with 100 speed. I can take it on and off and it doesn't affect my speed whatsoever. Is there a cap maybe? Or something to do with me being level 8 :) I should be level 12+

Yes, that is one of the occurrences. I've used an editor a few times, mostly when my character got stuck so he can't move. And always, my level is completely reset. Not only that, if your currently on a quest to become a class, the greyed out icon will disappear, and you will not attain that class when you complete the quest.

Anyways, your level hardly matters in Dungeon Lords. You just get bonus experience every time you level up.

Does that mean I won't get the bonus experience on my next levels? Such as I'am level 8, so I'll get the level 8 bonus to 9 ?

If so I'am kinda pissed and I'll restart heheh. My fault for using an editor though. I'll just use it right at the beginning for Identify and be done next time though. I'am not on a Class Quest so that's good I guess or I woulda noticed it being greyed out for sure.

But yeah my initial question, I'am going to lose experience on my continuing levels? Or would using the editor to my real level in be a wise choice..

Well I went ahead and tried to raise my experience with the same editor, only to load the game and I was level 4... So that does not work :( There is another Editor called: DL Character Editor filename dlcharedit. That editor doesn't have any consequences that I know of, but it doesn't allow you to change many things except skills and attributes.

I really can't go on in the game being level 8 and knowing that I'am around level 12-14, and not knowing if my experience bonus is correct so I will restart. I've learned so much I would like to do things differently anyhow; mainly concerning the additional classes.

So besides DL Character Editor and DLGameEditor V1_5beta, does anyone know of a very solid save game editor??

I know I can easily put my Identify to 10 at the beginning of the game and be done with that. But if someone goes hinky, I'd like the ability to change it with a nice editor that's not going to destroy my levels. DL Character Editor is nice but not advanced enough. The other is perfect I just wish it didn't have that major flaw, that's horrible. Maybe a check on a new version? heheh..

I used the other editor to raise my experience and see what happens, and it indeed raised me to level 10. So I'am sure I could get myself back to 12-14.. But I have no idea what level I was exactly anyhow. So now I feel like my character is pretty much all out out of whack - I want my character to be solid as he should be all the way through and this just isn't gonna cut it..

A restart is most definately I suppose.. Since Ive learned so much anyhow, heck I don't even have one extra class or tier yet heheh..

But like before, if anyone knows of a good solid Editor for this game please post it. I checked on a new version of the Advanced Editor which is flawed but the last one released was in March and that's what Ive used to destroy my char.

The editor V1.56a and earlier has an error in the experience and advancement points. The fields are 4 bytes, but the editor is limiting the values to 3 bytes (16777215 maximum value). The author knows about this issue and some others, like index errors in the Quest section.

My suggestion is to download his Excel spreadsheet which has the offsets of the important locations. Use his game editor to make your major changes, then save. Use a hex editor to load the edited game and repair the experience and advancement points values, then save again. Use the end-of-file relative offsets and bookmark the offsets in your hex editor. That procedure works perfectly for me.

I've not yet installed any character editors/upgrades to my DL(CE). After reading the thread, I'm not sure I want to... I've got a lvl 44 Dwarf Adept, Mage, Battlemage, Celestial, become Shadowlord. And I'm currently playing a lvl 10 Thrall rogue (no other classes/tiers yet selected).

I've been playing DL since I got it as an x-mas gift [dec'06]. No problems on my end, and I'm thouroughly entertained with hours of gameplay.:D

If I were to use an editor it would be to upgrade items and wpns. For instance I think t would be too cool for shuriken to have longer range and inflict Bleeding Wounds (hehehe)... But that's just me:rolleyes:
