I seem to be getting invalid CD key when i try to go online with the fileplanet beta. Also fileplanet seem to have included 3 installs! I suspect only 1.5 was necessary, making the download 1 gig more than it should be. I'm also having problem with no sound in the tutorial.
Sorry if this is the incorrect forum for beta stuff, but there was no beta forum mentioned in the fileplanet email.

I am having the same problem.
I got the patch fine but it says invail cdkey with no way 9even tried reinstalling) to reset the key i put in.
Wonder if it was a caps issuse or a - problem etc..

Sorted the sound, it seems the game is ignoring which sound card is my primary directsound device. It was using my onboard sound, instead of the usb soundcard i got with my headphones.

anyway to remove the cdkey we enterd so we can try with caps and without the - every 4 spots?
since FP gave me all lower case letters and - i used them wonder if removing or doing caps makes a difrence?

You can remove the cdkey and re-enter through the registry which i already did. The same thing happens says invalid key. When i type a random key in the box when it asks me it doesnt work, so the key you entered is valid if it went through even though it says invalid after you hit multiplayer. Guess we just have to wait till they fix the problem.

could be the key got handed out sevral times by FP or the ones FP got are not all turned on yet?

I'm not really sure since it actually accepts the key, just doesnt work after you hit multiplayer. I'm guessing it wouldn't be fileplanet.
I'm also suffering from this problem.

I hope this will be fixed soon. While searching for the possible cause we have noticed that GameSpy did not enable this batch of CdKeys yet. I brought this to their attention and hope they will act fast. Sorry for this inconvenience.

OK, I've received a note saying that people from GameSpy have just activated the "missing" cdkey batch. All of you should be able to play the game over the Internet now.

That's correct - everything should be fine now. There were a few keys that weren't activated. ;)

So, how did you sort it? I've having the exact same problem, I think. The sound plays on the Dreamcatcher intro movie, but I get no sound in the main menu or in-game. I too have a USB headset and an onboard audio solution, but I see no way to change the audio device in the game's options menu.

That thread is of no help as I don't have an fmod.dll file in my windows/system32 folder.

What audio hardware do you have? BTW we have fixed this in today's patch (ver 1.65).

I know this is a longshot, but under Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices, is the proper device selected for playback?

LOL! Longshot indeed. Notice how I said the sound plays during the dreamcatcher intro movie? But, yes, I double checked and everything is selected properly. Even 'use default devices only' is checked.
This doesn't make any sense.

But you still didn't say what audio hardware do you have? Please do, so we can look into this and eventually help you.

I'm using a Plantronics DSP 500 USB headset. I also have onboard sound via the Nvidia nforce chipset, but I just moved recently and haven't mounted and connected my speakers yet.
