Hey,

I recieve an error when trying to load into the tutorials and when trying to enter an online game. The box appears pretty far into the load, and during a multiplayer I get as far as the music starting to play and the screen stays black for about 10 seconds before the error comes up. The error reads:

"There has been an error executing application. Press retry to attempt to debug. Press abort to create a minidump to [directory]"

Ive tried all the options (retry, ignore, and abort), patched the game, and tried messing with the graphics options. No signs of improvement.

My build:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 2.4Ghz, eVGA GeForce 8800GTX, Soundblaster X-Fi Fatal1ty Pro, 2 GB Corsair Domiator RAM. I run BF2 maxed along with numorous others, scored a 12k in 3DBench06, and have run stability tests overnight successfully.

I'm having the same problem. We're both running 8800 vid (I've got the GTS) and same CPU but I'm running on-board sound and a different mobo. I even upgrade to the 97.44 drivers that nVidia just released and the problem didn't change at all.

If you attach a debugger to the error you'll see that the error is actually an access violation in RendererGL.dll which is in the plugin folder of the game. It's either a bug in the rendering engine or a bug in the nVidia drivers. Not sure which. Might even have something to do with running a dual core chip for all I know.

Hopefully they'll find a fix for us soon.

I have an 8800 GTX, and I too get this same error.

Glad I dished out $650 for an incompatable video card.

The patch did the trick. I can fire up the game and play without a problem now. Thanks for the quick resolution!
