Hello there.

I just bought the Painkiller Special Edition. It loaded fine, then i d/led the patches and applied them. The program crashed with the error along the lines of "Cannot be applied to saved games" then listed a bunch of missing models ie. "Zombie_soldier" and crashed to desktop.

I uninstalled, reinstalled and just went with the 1.6.1 patch...same thing. Is there something i'm doing wrong here?

Specs:
Pentium® D Processor 940 with Dual Core Technology (3.2GHz, 800FSB)
Genuine Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005
2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz - 2 DIMMs edit
320GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/ 16MB cache
512MB nVidia GeForce 7900 GTX
Dual Drives: 16x DVD-ROM Drive + 16x DVD+/-RW w/dbl layer write capability
Sound Blaster® X-Fi™ XtremeMusic (D), w/Dolby® Digital 5.1

I have the latest drivers and everything. It seems to be a patching problem i would think?

thanks in advance...

The SE, one CD 10$ version? I never heared about any SE user patched the game. Imo the SE does not support MP and only have some levels of 35 total.

So if U jus thave the SE i just wouldnt patch it. Because all aviable patches are for the full version of PK.

That would make sense...

Thanks for the prompt reply!

Imagine 12 levels from 35 without MP.

I realize that there are probably several comments about this already, but I didn't want mine to get lost in the threads.

"Special" edition? "Stripped DEMO" is closer to the truth. I had heard about the game so when I saw the "Special" edition at such a good price, I went for it.

After being disappointed, I did some research: apparently there are 24 levels in the full game, but only twelve in the "Special" edition. No multiplayer capability in the "Special" version either. No cut-scenes.

There's nothing special about the "special". Lackluster, perhaps. Feature-poor, maybe. If by "special" they meant limited gameplay, then it's not false advertising.

LOT of people got fooled by this "special" release. Don't be one of them. I was getting into the frenetic free-for-all action of the game. But because of this "Special" edition ruse perpetrated by the publishers, when someone asks me about the game, I tell them it sucked and that only "special" people might like it.
