Got my copy of this game from my local Gamestop and updated it to v1031 patch.

Regardless of what level map I'm currently on, about 10-15 minutes into the game I get a nasty lockup that requires a reboot to escape from. The mouse cursor dissappears followed by the 3d graphics and user interface - the only thing left is the background graphics and sound.

If I let it sit there long enough the stuff that disappeared all return - but the game is still frozen - ALT-TAB doesn't work - leaving no choice but to reboot my PC.

PC Specs:

Intel Core Duo E6600 @ 3.0ghz
4gb DDR2 800mhz RAM
BFG nForce 680i SLI motherboard - using onboard sound chip
Two 2x MSI 7950GX2 video cards - quad SLI (FRAPS says FPS of 200+ at 1900x1200 resolution on a Acer AL2416W LCD display)
BFG 1000w power supply
Windows XP Pro SP2
DirectX 9.0c

Definitely memory issues here. Just got a Not Enough Memory error message claiming I had 5.5mb available RAM left while transitioning between map levels.

Obviously the game is not freeing up previously used memory. This is on a PC with 4gb of RAM.

Thanks for yours report. We will look into it right now.
I'm just curious, which version of NVidia drivers you have installed?

btw, there is no mater do you have 2gb or 4gb of RAM installed 32bit application can hardly allocate more than 2gb of RAM.

I use Forceware v93.71 (the latest official driver from Nvidia). I also use nForce v9.53 for my motherboard. Not many new drivers lately for XP - thanks to Vista of course.

The infamous 2gb limit is pretty much to be expected for WinXP. I occasionaly mess around with WinXP64 as well.

I also get this problem, with a little variation, i use forceware 91.45.

The difference between your problem and mine is that mine just freezes, nothing else happens, it just freezes. No mouse disappearing or such, it just freezes.

This is very annoying because i really like this game, the game is patched up with the latest patch 1.031 (or something).

This occurrs every single time i start up the game and start playing.

After a few minutes of gameplay 5-10 min, the game freezes and the keyboard stops responding completely (caps-lock and nothing works).
The only thing to do is reboot.

I really like this game and it's a shame that i can't play it.

All my drivers are updated (i updated before i played the demo)

I did not have this problem in the sp demo!

My Computer:
Graphics: 7800 gtx 512 mb "XXX" OC
CPU: amd 64 3500+ 2.2 ghz
Ram: 2 GB 400 mhz dual-channel
Motherboard: Gigabyte K8N-SLI

Thanks in advance!!

isnt there now a 1.032 patch, at least dreamcatcher are issuing regular patches for this title, superpower 2 we are stil waiting those of us that buy off gamestop cant even play the 1.4 patch some stupid need a cd patch thing which obviously we dont have.

U might get 6 months of patches for geniss rising so make sure folks u find all the bugs now because once it becomes an old title the DC guys ignore it.
Ive emailed gamestop asking them to stop all DC downloads until they get proper support patches for all theri titles dont like my chances but we shall see

I have not seen 1.032 yet...

But when it does come out, i hope that it fixes all the current bugs, because this is my current favourite game and now i can't even play it...

I could play it in first levels but the game started freezing in the level after the level where there are alot of trade-stations and you are supposed to get 3 talkheads.

I'm gonna check out if any of the other levels freezes the game, maybe then we can isolate the error and fix it easier, maybe it's something that is present in the level? Or perhaps it has something to do with the save files not being complete.

Good luck!

Thanks in advance!

Okay, this is what i found out.

I deleted the saves from that level and played through the level before it, by doing this i discovered that none of the other levels seemed to freeze my computer.

However, even though i deleted the level saves and redoed the previous level, the game still frooze.

So there is probably a problem with that particular level or something like that.

Hope this helps!

The most common issue with games crashing are drivers that are out of date, try updating your graphics, motherboard, sound and cpu drivers to the newest possible and try again.

What are you hardware specs by the way? The game MAY have problems with a certain graphics card.

NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT SLI
NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GT SLI
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86GHz
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86GHz
NVIDIA nForce 430/410 Serial ATA controller
P5nsli
but it makes my computer crash even when the game is not playing did not start till i installed the game and i can say for shore it is the game cause i formated my computer and it caused the same problem and i did not put all of the extras on my computer that i had on it before

My specs are:
XFX 7800 gtx 512 mb "XXX" OC
2 GB 128-bit dual channel pc3200
Amd 64 3500+ 2.2 ghz
Gigabyte GA-A8N-SLI

I managed to get past the error just by trying enough times (i rebooted like 20 times or something, then it finally worked, then the next level was doing the same thing, but that only took 5 tries to pass)

You CAN get past it just by trying hard enough, but it'll take some time, and i can't guarantee it will work for all, but just start the game and start playing, if the game freezes, reboot and try again.

it rebouts on its own and gives the same error even when i am not playing the game that is where the problem is for me cause i would have no problem just playing till i got past it and i have done that

Well, it could still be the drivers, my computer bluescreened and rebooted a lot of times before i updated my video drivers, even though i did not play any games at the time.

What does the blue-screen say?

I have encountered numerous blue-screens so i know what they all are.
