View Full Version : Single Player Cheats (increase maintenance pop + loads more)

Was just looking at some of files and found that by editing the save files you can increase the maintenance pop and blood + genes etc...

This only works for single player and so IMO is not against any rules.

Here is how you do it.

Open up the text file in the save folder. (Dreamcatcher/genesis rising/save) Go into one of the save folders and open the txt file game_state.txt

Scroll Down untill you see something like this

numParties 256
partyIndex 0
state 0
name "player"
faction -1
team 0
color 8
lifeStatus 0
victoryStatus 0
startPos 0
startMaintenanceLimit 16
bloodAmount 4224

CHange the Maintenance limit and blood amount to what ever you want. I have not fully tested this out yet but I will after posting this.

Also below that the txt file tells you what genes you have and how many and how powerful eg.

gene w Placenta 1
5
gene a Speed 1
gene a Invasion 1
gene w bulletships 1
gene w drake 1
gene w Placenta 1

By theory im guessing the 2 number is how powerful the gene is. The first numbers I am unsure. If these work and you enjoy them please sign up on my forum for your appreciatation www.genesisrising.tk

UPDATE: Cheat works, ONE problem is that when the next event happens it resets the pop cap but I think even this can edited. The genes can changed successfully to any power and so can the blood.


Here is a picture I took with a small army of ships using the cheat.

Soz for third post cant seem to edit my last one. Here is a picture you have all been waiting for. 100 pop cap, and about 40+ units.

Nice. Since i dont have the full game atm, how is it running with 100 units? Smooth?

well on my pc it still runs smooth but I did notice a slight change in performace with 40+ units. Nothing major though.

Sounds good. I like the idea.
The micromanagement will become more tricky but as a good gamer U should know how to manage Ur genes for more then just 24 ships (actualy atm about 8 since there is no ship that just use 1 slot, anyway).

Well, i have tried and tried to make the maintaince limit stay at the number you set it at, but it always changes when you do an upgrade or move on to the next level.

the first part contains the genes u have
the second part contains the templates u have
"a" means ability,"w" means weapon
the number following is the level of this gene

Be careful with that cheat on the last mision hehehehe, if you do that trick and build an army with 50 ships you will end fighting versus 100 ships on that mision, so 150 ships on the screen, i will try to do it one day but i think you will lose that mision in 30 seconds, see it by yourself , i dont want to tell you want happent on the end of the game, is like told you the end of a movie before you see it hehehe.

lol i exactly did that. Had about 30 heavy fighters so there was 90 fighters on the screen at once all shooting. Got really messy.

i have nothing in my save folder, how come u have files?? my game only auto saves when i enter a new mission and i dont have a save option on the esc menu

any ideas or help??

i have yet to find the text in the save folder, every time i open it, the file is empty! wtf? what do i do?

Well.. I finished the game, first I used allot of ships, than I got the idea of changing some of the genes ( like the defense gene:D ) and set it to 100...

And immortality here I come :))

Well I finished the game stuck with it just to see the story...

The only things that someone might like at this game are the graphics..

Also I'd like to quote something from metamorf :))

Oh let's not forget the fact that they show us the shaders they are using in shaderdump.txt ... ohh and thanx for leaving sensitive data in text files :)) i'm sure that surprised a lot of people... I mean except for .gemb files I don't think there are any binary format around... :))

Why not release the game under GPL and let others give it a try ;):cool:

i got vista and when i try to change maintanence points vista wont let me change the file.
what am i doing wrong?:(

Cool, give these a try my next go through. one question though. is there a way to modify the values for a skirmish game? (values=PopulationCap, BloodAtStart)

In 'entities.set' I noticed this line:
upgradedLabProduceHeavy no

I have never seen an upgrade option to allow the lab to produce heavy fighters. Guess I'll have to give it a try and see what happens.

Well, that was a bust.
It seems certain things won't work, like setting the 'upgradedLabProduceHeavy no' flag to yes.

And setting the Omnicruiser flag to produce medium ships also doesn't work in the early missions.

I guess some things are hard-coded to prevent their use too early, or at all.
