Anybody have suggestions of a game similar to DL that they like? I've finished DL with 3 characters and it's starting to get old now. Oh, and preferably a game where they fixed the bugs BEFORE they released it! :-)

u may want to try Titan quest, an expansion pack for it has come out recently. Link to the forums to check things out.

Try any of the Gothics (1,2 or 3). They're a bit harder and 1&2 have a funky keyboard based control scheme, but they're deeper RPG's with a lot more in them. They're also 3rd person, single hero, action-based combat games just like DL.

Gothic 1 or 2 are definite recommendations, 3 really needs a very powerful computer. Also, check out Blade of Darkness - not really a RPG but wonderful combat.

Following some of your suggestions, I was checking out reviews about Gothics 1 and 2...would I miss anything skipping 1 and just getting 2, because it seems like they fixed a lot of the gameplay control issues and added better graphics?

I started with #2 and went back to #1. The story of #1 is perhaps better, but the living world and combat is definitelybetter in #2.

I second Titan Quest as being a good game. Pick up the Imortal Throne expansion while you are at it. I also enjoy Neverwinter Nights2 and Oblivion. Haven't played the Shivering Isles expansion for Oblivion yet.

Here are a few old games that you might be able to find on Ebay which are very good: Summoner is a good action turn based RPG which plays alot like DL if memory serves me correctly ....another turn based action rpg that is good is Wizardry....A couple other old games that are good are Hexen 2 and Heretic 2..there are a few others I can't remember atm but when I do I will let you know.

Not sure if I've mentioned it here, but if you are in the US & Canada there is a cool game trading site called Goozex that is very easy to use and has loads of PC and Mac games listed. It is basically a match-making system. Rather than peer trading, you list and when someone requests you get hooked up for a predetermined amount of 'points'. I got a full box copy of Betrayal at Krondor there, as well as Fallout for PC (only had Mac version) along with strategy guide.!

Thanks for the invite Mike!! I signed up and got you some points! I got my used copy of DLCE and am having a blast so far.I have taken up residence in a couple shacks I found in the starting area where the higher level monsters are are located building up my character so I can tackle the sewers with less problem..... (Yay just made lvl 5 woohoo)I am glad I did because I have gotten some nice loot including a Poison Staff that I can't identify but is very leathal. Do magic staves have a limited amount of usages before their power is exausted or do they have infinite power....cuz I can't remember. Also the manuel says that there is supposed to be an identify skill to level up like the repair skill but I do not see one to level up...where is is the icon for it? Dungeon Lords is on the come back.....woohoo!

Not for the bonus (e.g. poison damage). Some have extra charges of a spell, but even that regenerate over time. Same for rings and trinkets with invokable spells.


Also the manuel says that there is supposed to be an identify skill to level up like the repair skill but I do not see one to level up...where is is the icon for it?
I believe you get them based on if you select certain character classes. Check the GameBanshee DL site for details.
