How to obtain lava beam

Greetings,

I have finished playing the game, but started again just to try a different strategy.

My question is simple. Is there some way to obtain the lava beam from Lapis ships? In the previous game, I otained laser beam from Cy Breed ship by buing it from them and then killing it myself. However I have captured and built many Lapis ships, but when I destroy them, there is not any loot left.

After i kill the Defiance Leader and IL, i didn't string to the Cerebrals mission, instead i go to the Hive, where you'll find some Lapis ships.

Destroy them and you might get the Lava beam genes
