Start up error (997)

I get a error window when I start the game....cant write file/save/restart.xs (997)....anyone know whats going on...not really much in the way of support for this game. System info: Gateway GT5428, Pent. D 3.20 GHZ, 1014 Mem, Vista 32 op sys, Graphics accel
