Hello everyone,

I installed Genesis Rising on my powerhouse of a PC. However, it appears this game will not work properly on my machine. My specs far surpass the requirements on the box.

Here are my issues:
1. When trying to launch the game, I get the message:
"request to play fullscreen will not work - play in Windowed mode?"
2. When playing in Windowed mode, the complete top portion of the game, as well as, the right side are missing from the screen. Game screen basically is not centered.

Considering my PC will play games such as Battlefield 2142, Command and Conquer 3, WWC, NFS Carbon, etc, I'm going on the hunch a patch is needed for this game. Just to satisfy myself, I followed the steps posted on the website to remedy the centering issue. But none of them worked (lower resolution, etc.)

Here are my system specs:

Any ideas? Any rumors on a patch coming out for this game? Or have I just wasted 40 bucks?

I'm having same issue. This is the first game i've had this issue with "full screen mode not supported by video card." If I need a new card, what is recommended? Mine is a few years old but I dont see why it wouldn't support full screen. please help.

We shouldn't need a new card. This game isn't really that sophisticated with the graphics. It actually looks no better than Star Trek Armada 2, though my video card does spruce it up a bit. Plus, the 7950 GT is not that old a card, and it shipped with new Alienware machines last year. True, the 8800 is out there now, but I'm betting those owners are having the same issues with this game.

Since I haven't seen any posted solutions, it's got to be narrowed down to an upcoming patch, if any. However, it would be nice if DreamCatcher would post the patch soon. Walmart doesn't accept returns of opened software, thus, this will be money wasted if they supply no patch.

Sorry bout that. I had edited my post but i guess i didn't click submit. This morning I went to the options screen in the game and changed the resolution to the highest setting and viola, full screen and runs great. Try it, should work. And even works when you start up game you will not get the message again

Your specs looks more then enough :) and problem is probably in refresh rates supported by your monitor. You can edit "cruciform.cfg" and copy/paste your desktop width, height and refresh rate values or you can run game in windowed mode and change resolution from the game options screen.

@noah3D,

Your procedure worked. The .cfg file had my resolution totally wrong. I run at 1024 x 768, and it had my resoution sitting at 12xx. The frequency was correct. Made the height/width changes, and it worked.

There's an un-fair advantage to this though. Some gamers may not even realize these forums exists to resolve these issues. Dreamcatcher and other game producers should create a system to e-mail customers updates to the games, once they buyer has registered the game.

Thanks again Noah3d,
