View Full Version : Mouse Acceleration??

I need to know how to somehow set something up so that mouse acceleration is disabled in this game. For reference, I am using standard drivers (bluetooth mouse, touchpad disabled), "Enhance Pointer Precision" is off, and I already have the registry fix for acceleration in XP, so the bug is somewhere else. Is anyone who reads this *not* experiencing mouse acceleration?

P.S.: New patch is great, however the new mouse sensitivity bar seems to adjust between 0.5x and 2x of the default speed, which is not useful. Most other games offer 10x or more, which is necessary on some systems. Is there some setting/reg entry/command-line switch that can be used to set sensitivity outside the bounds of the slider?

I'm using a Dell (Logitech) bluetooth mouse w/ standard windows drivers. I'm trying to find out if something in the game turns mouse acceleration on or off, otherwise it will be a problem between DirectInput and the mouse driver. I'll try to get the Logitech drivers to work on my system, but are there any devs on this forum that would be able to explain how the game handles acceleration?

There is Wolfman who afaik is one of the developers of the game so he should know. Be patient with a reply (if U PM him, but maybe he will before monday). All i know is that tomorrow is sunday. ;)

U could also try to PM noah3d http://www.dreamcatchergames.com/forums/member.php?u=74139

I've found out one other thing: If I hold down the right mouse button in-game and rotate around a ship, the acceleration disappears. This would tend to indicate that this is a game issue, instead of a Logitech issue as I had previously thought.

You can manually edit the "cruciform.cfg" and adjust mouse speed to desired.
Change "optMouseSpeed 0.330000" to any value, save and run the game. Normal values are in 0.1 - 1.0 range but you can enter higher value if you wish.
The game itself has a mouse acc. routine and unfortunately it cannot be disabled.

Thank you for your reply, it is always good to hear from developers on the forums. However, this is extremely disappointing news. I feel I should explain that this is not an issue of preference for me, many people with wrist injuries cannot tolerate mouse acceleration due to the increased precision required, which is one reason why most drivers and games offer the option of turning it off. Will it be possible for you to include a toggle for this feature?

Once again, this looks like a great game, I look forward to being able to enjoy it soon!

(BTW, regarding the comment about mouse speed, I forgot to mention that the mouse was moving too fast, not too slow. optMouseSpeed values below 0 are still not supported.)
