Nautilus locks up

Sometimes, when I'm playing Mystery of the Nautilus, the game seems to stop and there is no arrow denoting where I could go. There's no place to go and the only way to get out of it is the three-fingered salute. Fortunately, Windows XP does not restart the computer when you hit Ctrl| Alt | Delete. I've closed all other programs before beginning the game. The only solution is to go out of the game in Windows Task Manager and then restart it at the last place I saved it.

Any ideas?
