Hi all,

I just retried the hive destruction mission for the 8th time... I had the 'not enough memory' freeze bug in 6 of these retrys. Now in the last game, I killed the last base and then the error occured. Now I guess you can all imagine how utterly utterly pissed I feel. I don't mind the occasional freeze or other problem, but REDOING the whole mission for a ninth time although I was probably 1 min away from the next save opportunity really drives me crazy.

So I think it should be a number 1 priority to provide an In-Mission save option.

Agreed we really need a in game save would help so much i also had the problem with the hive mission manged to get around it by killing all the stations and sparing the enemy ship that seems to lock up my game.

fergas, thanks for your support. You mean that by killing all stations, but not all ships, one can avoid that problem? I think it happened when I killed the labor around the last station, the oratorium or so... lol. Of course I had these 'memory allocation errors' also much earlier in the mission.

Yes at the last station i didnt kill one of the big ships think it was the mothership cant really remeber or you could trying killing every station and all but one of the ships dont think it needs to be a in a certain order worth a try i also got the (memory allocation errors) anyway i hope you get the hell off this mission the ones after it are better :)

I succeeded at last - this was a tough one, both because of the enemies and the memory allocation errors. Thanks again for your help. I concentrated my fire on the last station and this time there was no error and instantly after killing the station, I was warped away and had a new save file... lol

Thanks again for your tip.

PS: WE STILL NEED IN-MISSION-SAVING! Are you listening, DreamCatcher?

yeah, this is just pathetic. I will never buy another game from DreamCatcher if they dont give us a save option. I am so mad at myself for buying this game. I have 1.044 and it still locks up and crashes everyother mission, usually near the end.

This is a good example of a good game that was designed/written by programmers who do not seem to know how us "ordinary" people play games. Just the lack of a players guide shows an arrogance of those who probably have infinite cheat codes.
Dave.

Hi all,
So I think it should be a number 1 priority to provide an In-Mission save option.

Yea, not really a game in the sense of challenging a human being to play with game pieces in a make believe world. It's much more of an interactive movie, with brief periods where the player is expected to push a few buttons in order to continue watching.

The answer is to cheat. Why die? It's pointless really, and there isn't any room to exercise creative application of your stuff. For instance, how much damage does that weapon do? Don't know? You're not supposed to make intelligent decisions.

So just go to C:\Program Files\DreamCatcher\Genesis Rising\save\1\autosave_hive destruction@2007-09-26 18-44-19 (or whatever) and open the file "game_state.txt". Then scroll down past your player name, until you see a bunch of weapons listed with numbers after them, somewhere around line #53. Upgrade your weapons by changing the numbers to higher numbers. Save and restart the game.

Once You Start A Game Finish It. You Can Cheat Once You Beat
Five Times. Show You Have Some Smarts I Know Some Times It
Can Be Pain In The Neck. But All Game Have A Beat Just Find It
As For A In Game Save That Would Be Nice!
