How The Hell Doe's One Get Out Of Hell

I'm in the Hell chapter (Insomnia) and have been for some time. As I get more familiar with the Hell stage, I'm seeing....(after killing all the ghosts)
the big flaming monster pop up regularly and repeating itself whenever I kill a
certain ammount of ghosts. After shooting all sorts of weapons at it, it disappears again until I kill off a bunch more ghosts. And when I do...it pops up again. Is this the end of the game? Or are there more levels and stages?
If there is...there has to be a way of killing off the flaming dude, and keeping him that way. HELP!!

he will either throw meteors at you or his sword. You have to shoot it back at him while he is throwing one at you. the easy way to do this is to use the tarot - quick reload, 3x usage, +20 seconds. Activate the tarot before killing the 66th soul, then just keep shooting at his chest. He usually goes down pretty quick. That is the end of the insomnia level, but each difficulty unlocks an additional level, you also get a different ending on trauma. :)

Greybeard So when I get up to 66 souls...I then hit the save key? If that is correct...
I would restart the game at that save and then find myself in Lucifers territory? I'll give it a shot. I tried doing it the way jiminator had explained to me, but I could not get it to work. I was obviously doing something wrong...like not hitting the tarot card just before at 65 souls
So after a while of going back and forth between the ghosts and Lucifer, my soul count kept getting higher and higher where I had to pause the game and calculate where I was..and how many more souls I needed to time it right with the tarot card. Doe's any of this make any sense? Anyhow.. I'm open to any suggestions on ways of killing off Lucifer.

on Lucifers ground, continue shooting at him (mainly the chest area) and after a while I'm transferred back to the ghosts. Do the same thing, just before 132 souls collected..I hit the save key again...back to Lucifer. What is actually supposed to happen to Lucifer once he is killed off? Also, am I supposed to do anything to his sword when it leaves his hand? Same thing with the lava boulders...Is there something I should do with them?

Dead right. You don't wear Lucifer down, you just have to get him to throw the sword and then blast it back at him. You can do this at any time, so you can save just before the morph and reload again and again until you get it.

Loads of luck and I trust you'll be graduating to Nightmare or Trauma when you're done :)
