help with the elven elders test

i am in the counsel of elders test (not sure if it is counsel or not , i'm beat) anyway the one where i must prove i am not lying about the armor being stolen by that family (once again very tired ) my problem is ...i am up against the archer and i am hitting him fine with bow, but it seems to have no effect..or are his hp that high..should i mage him ? or will i need those for the next dude (if there is one) man it sure would be nice to have something like the way runescape has runescape hq (however lame that game is at least they have that) .. i have searche that other site which will remain nameless , and .....not much there....any help would be gr8

You're not suppossed to kill him, just avoid him and when You jump onto ledge he'll disappear. you can kill him though it jsut takes a long long time. You do get a hefty exp bonus though :). the quickest way to kill him is via hand to hand. Jump up ont the pedestal right near where he is shooting from and when you get near the edge he'll walk toward you switching to melee. Pound on him.... for about a half an hour to hour... Actually non of these bosses are meant to be kiled in this area at all just avoid them and do the task before you. (In this case getting up to his position and stepping on the switch)

BTW the easiest elder to kill also give the most exp. He is the one two trials after this one... nto trying to spoil things... When you face an archer again if you nock him into water he can't attack unless you get within melee range and if you have longer sword than him you can corner him and.... Don't worry their is a landing that raises to get you out of water...
