Feel free to share the bugs that you've found in the demo. What I have found sofar:

• demo server bug - nobody can connect to your server due to Gamespy Error
• wall glitch - if a part of your opponent glitches through a wall you can hit him
• shaft bug - same like in PK (the beam won't show up)
• no timer (u can activate it via typing "showtimercountup"

This are the bugs that I've found within half an hour.. I guess there are some more...

Hey I downloaded the demo from 3ddownloads.com because all other download sites were busy. But when I try to extract the .bin file in WinRAR I get these errors:

InstallOverdoseDemo.r00: You need to start extraction from a previous volume to unpack OverdoseDemoSetup-1.bin

InstallOverdoseDemo.r00: No files to extract

Anyone know how I can get this thing to install? I don't think the download is corrupted, I mean it's the right file size.

:(:confused::(:confused::(:confused:

Well I guess if no one can offer any advice I'll have to download it again from some other mirror. :(

Some extra info in the meanwhile...

This link:

http://www.3ddownloads.com/Action/Painkiller:%20Overdose/Demo/InstallOverdoseDemo.r00

Says the file download is 716.79 mb

The file is called "InstallOverdoseDemo.r00" not .rar, and is 733,990Kb

When double clicked the contents are:

1 folder called: DirectX9 (59Mb)
OverdoseDemoSetup-1.bin <-- (Size= 705,601,539)

Is the file corrupted?

I'm using the latest version of WinRAR 3.71

Have you tried renaming it .rar?

::edit:: or maybe .exe.

Have you tried just extracting the archive rather than a specific file within it?

Jo, it's a demo! ;)

Indeed. It's a demo. But wouldn't it be great if we could report as much bugs as we could find in order to get a "clean" final version?

Bugs can destroy gaming communities. So my intention is to find them and report them asap!

OT: To my mind this demo is really good. I think I must get used to play without stakes but otherwise I like the compromise about the old PK weapons. They are almost the same (RL, SG, Shaft...) but a little bit more futuristic.

I hope that there will be some conversions of old maps like DM_Sacred, and DM_Meatless....

Thanks for trying and replying 123 ;)

I tried renaming to .rar - didn't work. I looked up the problem on the rarlabs web site and it says:

If you have done this but still receive the error when extracting from one volume, it can be due to one of the two following reasons:

* one of the volumes is damaged. In this case WinRAR should point this out in the "Diagnostic messages" window.

Only it doesn't...

* some of the volumes are absent. Check to make sure you have all volumes. Also it is possible that the volume sequence includes even more volumes, but you do not have them.

But there is only 1 file, it's not a sequence of .rar files. Furthermore the DirectX9 folder does extract correctly. It's only the .bin file that does not.

In a desperate measure I tried renaming to .exe but no go.

Oh well... (expletive removed)

Will this demo be coming out via any gaming magazines?

Someone from Mindware ought to verify if the file being offered at 3ddownloads.com is OK?

Peace, outtie!

Sorry Spieler I know I keep hijacking your thread with my problem, but this is sorta' relevant. The 3ddownload.com file is corrupted. Or at least it was for me...

I just wanna' update everyone about the problem I had "had" (past tense).

The Overdose demo should contain 3 files, not 1 as is the case at 3ddownloads.com. DON'T download it from there. The 3 files are:

checksum.sfv (1Kb)
InstallOverdoseDemo.exe (16,390Kb)
InstallOverdoseDemo.r00 (733,990Kb)

If you don't have all 3 you won't be able to install the demo. You'll have to download it from another mirror.

Thanks again Guardian Angel ;)

I'm off to OD, Whoohoo!!! :D

3 posts in a row... whoohoo! JACKP:eek:T!!! Edit button please...

It's BETTER than the original Painkiller and Battle Out Of H3ll! Bold statement? Yep! I stand by it! For me personally, playing the half angel half daemon Belial with that AWESOME assortment of weaponry... man it doesn't get any better than that!:D

Love Belial's comments and voice, and the noise those wheelchair guys make is hilarious. New weapons are insane! I've been swapping between them constantly. Sick!

Only 1 bug to report, after I had finished the level (and no it wasn't easy and yes it was a LOT of fun) I went looking for the last Holy item (I found 2 so far). When I went back to the start of the level I was blowing things up (objects/barrels) and there was a barrel just after that first left bend (from the starting position). Well when I used the lizard egg "remote control" weapon on the barrel, the first time the egg didn't stick to the barrel, even though I aimed it at the barrel, the egg landed beyond it on the ground. It detonated correctly. Then the second time the egg hit the barrel but disappeared (did not stay stuck to it) then when I detonated the egg nothing happened, it was as if the egg had gone off the map beyond the clipping. The 3rd time I tossed the egg at the barrel it landed and detonated correctly. Prior to that one barrel hiccup all weapons functioned perfectly.

I wasn't expecting those field doctors to throw those saws... all of a sudden I'm being dissected from a distance, lol. :D Great level design!

Loved that area where you could run up those ladders (steps) and run around on the balustrade. Had a WILD time fighting in there, and what a surprise when those wheelchair fellas started climbing up those ladders too huh? :D

Even when I'd finished the mission and the level end pentagram appeared I didn't know where those bloody bullets were coming from (on the BIG machinery). I was too busy staying alive earlier to pinpoint their location, but eventually did.

LOVE the blood splatters on the screen!

ULTRA COOL demo. I can't wait to play it again and try new things. How is that H3llish shotgun... WOW! Shotgun was never really a favourite weapon of mine in PK, but this "upgraded version" is nice. Belials "cube"... excellent! All weapons are ace in their own way - already have 3 favs...

Nice job Sep/Mindware Studios, you guys just raised the bar of excellence.

Sure! You're right! But in this case it's much too late. Mindware knows about the bugs, the game was tested by a selected game community (JoWood makes this) and we (darkscorner) have the Beta (and nobody is interested in a bug report cause it's "too late").

Maybe it's good for the first patch, but also here is the demo not the right thing, here we should wait for the final version. But nothing we report here now (from the demo) makes changes in the final version.

We (not we, Kalme) found maybe some old bugs there are in the game since 1.35, but if they are not fixed in the final release.........don't matter, Kalme works on Powermad. ;)

I thought as much, but I couldn't believe they could be that stupid.

Anyway, good to hear you've got it running somehow.

Today I got the following bug while creating a mp server: http://aycu23.webshots.com/image/33102/2004044128212056889_rs.jpg
Any idea how to fix this issue?

Please post overdose errors at the official forums, that way Mindware will see them for sure.

Thanks

Yup; the direct link to the forum is

and there are a few sticky FAQ posts explaning what error reports should contain.
