Its official. Hopefully this will go over better than the first one.

From a JoWooD Press Release comes the news:

Stand-alone expansion pack due in Q3 2008 with full sequel to follow in Q3 2009

November 20, 2007 (Liezen, AUSTRIA) - JoWood Productions announced today that it will release Dungeon Lords: Expansion (working title) for Windows in Q3, 2008. At the same time, the company announced the development of Dungeon Lords 2 (working title) for a next-gen console platform and the Windows platform for home personal computers.

Not requiring the base game, the Expansion Pack is a complete stand-alone game and will contain an all new story which acts as a link between the original game and the Sequel. The Sequel will deliver an all new graphics and physics engine, a new epic quest and all new art.

Dreamcatcher will oversee the production process.

Released in May, 2005 for Windows, Dungeon Lords has been well-received commercially, selling in excess of 1 million copies worldwide in a variety of formats.

Well now, I'm truly dumbfounded! Great news though and anyone doubting it, check out the site for the news as stated here.

I wonder if the expansion takes off from the stone portal in DL? I'll certainly be looking for the expansion and DL2 to hit the store shelves.

Ok, so basically they are saying that DW Bradley had such a good idea with a poopily programmed game that JoWood thinks they can recreate a similar game from scratch and make it better. They should reprogram the first game and add it as a bonus to the expansion release.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry...or be skeptical...or jump for joy. I hope they release a demo. (snicker)

It's nice to come back after a while and see people are still here on the ol' forums. I wonder.... is anyone here going to get the Sequel/expansion?

What are your thoughts people?

Well, since I consider Dungeon Lords to be one of the best RPG's ever made (I played it through 5 times) I will certainly get every expansion and sequel they make --- however this time around I will wait for the final totally patched (and hopefully completed) version. :D

I played the game just two numbers shy of my age, and I'm OLD (retired)! So yeh, I'll get em. This time around though, I hope the new installments are actually NEW and not a patched version released as a new game. Man! what suckers we were!

I'll wait and make sure the game is completed before I think about getting it.

Great news. DL was like a beautiful girl covered in mud. Fun to play with, but a bit of a mess. You could see the potential laying under the surface though.

I will be picking up both the expansion and the sequel.

I will wait for the reviews instead of pre-ordering it.. like I did last time :D

But to my defence: I was desperate for a new third person action-RPG to play back then! I was in between Gothic's at the time.. And what a buggy (but wonderful) mess Gothic 3 turned out to be.

Why is it that all games I like are buggy?!

So, did DW Bradley get hired by JoWood?

How did JoWood pick this game up and all of a sudden decide to clean it up a bit?

I dunno ... was wondering that myself. Hueristic Park must have folded.
