View Full Version : Played the demo, buying game soon, questions

Hey everyone, i just played the demo. It runs at nearly 60fps, drops to around 55fps when i start to shoot with that laser/yellow/super beam at about 4 enemies at once. Other then that, the game stays at 60fps.
My computer specs:
Windows98se/600MHZ/512megs of ram/PIII/60GB/100GBE-HD(usb)/3Dfuzion Geforce 5500 FX 256MB PCI Card/90PSU.

I kept shadows off, but everything else was set on high with 1024x768.
I'm buying the game soon, along with the packs.
Now my question:
Is there any way to disable blood & gore?
Please say yes lolz.

Not by default. I remember making a mod some time ago for someone who didn't want the gibbing, you could use that (if I or somebody else can find it :D). But the blood is still enabled.

Yea i was shocked myself, but i get good fraps, 60fps which i am guessing. It moves fast, even when the action heats up. So if not 60fps, my guess near 60 and around 50fps, which is great. Computer is outdated, but still pretty good. :)
Anyway, i will look around for the mod. The blood is not too bad, just thought it would be nice to disable blood and gore, you know if the option is open.

Yeah, disabling blood and gore sounds strange with an FPS, and especially when we're talking about a game like PK... o_O Disabling blood from an FPS is like disabling s***m from a pr0n-movie. I understand some people don't want to see it anyway...

Take a look at my blog page, in the photo gallery. There are plenty of women in the adult business who pose wearing clothes, thus a option to see them without thier clothes off, nothing is wrong with that.

Tell that to the folks who made hitman and serious sam. They have options to disable blood and gore, and look at those games, those games are just has violent has painkiller. Will Rock is another FPS game, that has a option to disable blood and gore. They are many other games as well, and its all a matter of choice.
I mean yes i play games with blood and gore, but if there is a option, i will turn it off. Gameplay is still the same with or without, but its a added plus with it turn off.

I hope You noticed the high level of seriousness in my previous post anyway... :)
Guess what: blood is disabled here too. In the MultiPlayer. Because I need performance, so I lowered and disabled everything... :D

This is the first time i have read that someone wants to disable gore in pk.
Normally its like: GIMME MORE BLOOD AND MORE GORE!!! BLOODPATCH WHERE??? :eek:

Kalme, I've uploaded it onto the server: Kalme's NoGibbing mods (http://tombraider.central-game.net/sys/painkiller/Kalme_NoGibbing-Mods.zip) - I know the server is slow and all, but this is only 4 KiB, so I think it will open/work, at least after a while. If not, then I can mail it to You or dunno...

And is that amazing on a strong PC? No, it's normal. The amazing is when a game can run even on slower PCs, because it's well optimized...

And I'm sure you also have a P3 with 600 MHz(!), 512 Mb RAM and a GeForce 5500 ;).

So the system requirements are false!
Original PK is one of those games which at the time had the best graphics, but demanded less performance. I still can't believe just DX 8.1 is required!:o
BTW GeForce FX 5500 on PCI-E slot? Never heard of such!:mad:

Yea PCI, not PCI-E. Evga just came out with a new card like 2 months ago(in PCI), take a look:

SM3.0 and its much faster then the 5500. I'm picking it up for newegg tho, CC dont ship to the store :mad:
When I first got PK I had 850mhz celeron 1024 ram and geforce 4600TI if I remember correctly. It was highly playable with that machine but BooH requires so much more
