I'm having a few minor glitches that may be related to this, but I'm sure it's just my own stupidity. I can't get past the first 10 minute scenario where I'm supposed to get the car keys before mom catches the boys. I have followed the instructions, but whenever I click on Joe to ring the doorbell, it jumps to a recorded sequence and by the time it comes back (if it doesn't crash the game completely) I click on Frank and send him down the stairs, and Mom catches me every time. I haven't figured out what I'm doing wrong.
Like I said, I'm sure it's something simple.

Use the parrot to take the phone to the boy in the house, charge the phone then call your father. I think this was the solution

I am having the same problem. How do you get the keys? I keep getting caught after ringing the doorbell also.

Before Joe rings the doorbell, Frank needs to be waiting at the top of the stairs. As soon as the cutscene is done you have to move quickly:
1) Switch to Frank and walk down the stairs
2) Click on the keys in the bowl as soon as you see them
3) Wait for Frank to pick them up
4) Immediately click on the stairs
You can't pause for even a nanosecond. Good luck!

I am having the same issue too only for me i am able to get the keys but it won't let me go upstairs and mom catches me and i know the game is not clitching or anything and when i do get the keys and go upstairs the keys is not in my invetory. I have tried everything i can to get the keys and go upstairs before mom catches me but nothing is working.
Double click to go up the stairs fast.

He supposed to say I'll just borrow these then you run upstairs and throw Joe the keys from the window in your room

I finally got the keys and moved on. But I'm stuck again. This time I think it might be an actual glitch. I am in Chapter 3 in the upstairs of the costume shop. I have solved the constellation puzzle and entered the room with my suspect. I get the moving mouth icon when I point my mouse on him, but when I click nothing happens. Is this happening for anyone else? I have restarted the game and even restarted my computer and relaunched the game. He is still not doing anything.

How did you get the keys? i am still unable to get them. I have tried everything. I would really appreciate it if you could help me because it is really frusterating and i am bout to through the computer out the door.
Put frank by the stairs,ring the doorbell,rush down stairs,grab the keys then rush back up the stairs.

I just kept doing this scene over and over until finally I clicked on the stairs and he got up before mom caught him. Then I immediately saved the game.

i have done all of that and i still can't get the keys. i can't remember who is joe and who is frank right now so i am going to explain it to you this way:
i make sure that one is at the start of the stairs
i make sure that the other is at the door
i make the one ring the door bell
as soon as i get the keys i double click on the stairs to go upstairs and i still get cought by mom. i am doing what i am suppose to and i still get no where with the keys.

i appreciate the help that i have been getting but everyone is telling me what i already know and everything i have tried and don't work. Can i get some REAL help please? I mean i am about to blow with anger and frusteration cause i am doing everything i can to get the dang keys and i am not successfull for some stupid reason so if some one could get me some better help i would really appreciate it.
Try not double clicking.
Remember,do it as fast as you can.

i don't remember which one it was but one of you told me to double click to go upstairs and so i tried it and it didn't work. to be honest i am really getting frusterated and mad. couldn't their be some other way to get the keys like make mom go do shopping or something? there has to be another way? i have been going at that game and stuck in the same position for over a week now and still unable to get the keys.
