Ok i just finished Iron Storm and i gotta give my appreciation of it.
First, the graphics and the engine are both fantastic except for some little "flaws" (actually they're just things i would have liked in this game) like the interaction with the objects in the scenes. They were quite innexistant apart from the doors and the elevators (and the guns i know)... I would have liked to be able to move the boxes, to use the buildings and the objects to my advantage... like building a little defense structure in haste... but i know that its quite tough, for I study in game design.
But apart that, i think the graphics and the engine were quite good!!! i'd give a great 95% for both!!!
The game play was good but , as some already said, a little linear... but you know, a fps gotta be linear in order to follow a defined story, else you are playing the sims or an other crap... I liked the "interaction" with the gards in the science complex... quite cool, it made me feel a little bit like james bond except that it was actually dangerous and that i was not going to be "killed" in a so ridiculous way that i was sure to escape alive and unscratched!!!
game play: 80% or so
Ok now the toughness!!! man that game was so though... but challenging!!! liked that... it was not like some game i won't mention but starts with an "s" and finishes with "oldier of fortune"!!!
This game was actually, in my opinion, as hard as Half-life and as cool a Max Payne. Man, what a mix!!!
Now are the major flaws of that game, altough it's quite good:
1- It's far too short, man, six levels... normally, a game take me about 3 mounths to finish on spare time... now it took me a week!!! ok... i took about 24 hours this weekend to finish it but you know... max payne lasted at leats 2 months...
2- The other major flaw was the end... i didn't like it, not a bit... im not gonna tell it so those who did not finish the game see it for themselves but those who finished it know what im talkin about...
Apart that, it was a really good game, and worth the 55$ i paid for it!!!
Now i wanna thank the walktrough and it's writter, and all of you, with your comments and tips, without you i'd be stucked before the prisonners camp, playing warcraft 3 instead of this great game (altough wc3 is quite good too, man Blizzard rulz!!!)
so thnxs a lot everyone!!! and may DreamCatcher create more challenging games like Iron Storm (longer plz???) and live on forever!!!
