I just recieved a reply from Harold Kim based on my e-mail request for help with IS. I thought alot of ppl that are having difficulty even playing the game would like to see it.

The issue logged with us on November 29, 2002:

Fresh install of win98se, all latest drivers for video card, sound card
and modem are installed as are drivers for monitor, also updated bios.
First game I installed was Iron Storm which I had just recieved as a
gift. The game would CTD when I got to the options screen. No big deal I
downloaded the 1.02 patch and made it as far as the video cut scene then
CTD again. I uninstalled it and tried again same thing. Uninstalled
again and installed it in my sons pc.Again it crashed to the desktop. I
tried it on my notebook which is a 2.0 Ghz P4 with Nvidia mobile chip
also 512 of ddr pc2100 ram. When I read your forum and discovered the
issues most people are having with this game. I sadly admit this game
was requested by me as a gift. Although you may feel that my
non-technical comments are unwarrented here. I believe they should be
expressed in whatever manor required to have them heard. I also do not
think the message boards are the plaace for that. As to your
instructions above for this tech support e-mail I beloieve I have
answered them all with the exception of the last one and it is a
resounding yes. This happens everytime I attempt to play the game. It
does not matter which pc I try it on.

Hi Brad,

Thank you for your patience during this whole process.

I know that no one should have to endure all this waiting to play a
game.
That being said, I do have an update for you regarding the patch.

Wanadoo, our European publishing partner has reported to us that they
have spoken to the

Developers and we should be expecting something soon.

First, it seems that there may be two additional patches coming out in
addition to the USB

patch (v 1.02) already on our site for USB related issues.
Please see:

http://www.dreamcatchergames.com/support/ironstorm.html

The first patch will address the multi player lag as many are
experiencing (possibly

others).
The second patch should contain the fixes for crashing to desktop and
inability to play due

to error messages saying: "c++ runtime error" "ironstorm has caused an
error in

ironstorm.exe and the like.

The first mentioned patch is expected to be out mid December or earlier
and we are hopeful

that the second patch will be available soon as well. I apologize for
not being able to

give a more firm date on the second patch (but we do not want to
disappoint anyone's

expectatations) but please keep abreast of our DC Ironstorm page (above)
or our message

boards at

http://dreamcatcherinteractive.com/cgi/

We know that the problem lies in the internal programming of the game
which makes this

process more tedious but very workable.

Once again, we understand your frustrations and should you not wish to
wait please note

that our customer service dept's policy is that we allow exchange of
game for any other

title of equal value within 1 year of purchase and will provide refund
within 30 days of

purchase. Please retain your receipt. For more information or options
feel free to contact

I'm really not sure what the issue is. I used to have problems playing this game, but it was because my computer was not powerful enough to do it. It didn't meet the minimum system requirements. Other than that, I don't know. You may try posting a new thread in the Iron Storm forum, and call it something like "IronStorm Installation Problems." Good luck!

As Slycer mentioned, a new thread would be appropriate. In the meantime- a bit of clarification...you mention DSL, are you trying to play multi or single player?
